Might be easier to just write a cheque for £40m for Mayfair...GDB2222 said:
That is what is quite a sought after road. The plot with the current house could be £20m. Another £5-10m to build a new house.Poster_586329 said:Anyone fancy a project?

The sort of person who is able to spend £40m on a house has sound reasons to be security conscious. They may be happy to hand over the Rolex, but it doesn’t mean that someone won’t just stab them first then take it.Ditzy_Mitzy said:
The last photo, of the guard post and barrier, rather brings to mind the entrance to a prison. It doesn't matter who put the barrier there, its very existence institutionalises those living behind it; creating the notion that the world and society beyond is nefarious and potentially hostile. I'd hate to live in a prison of the mind, like that.Poster_586329 said:Anyone fancy a project?

Not far from the (in)famous "Billionaires Row", and possibly even more exclusive.GDB2222 said:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bishops_AvenueThe site benefits from close proximity to numerous bus stops along Hampstead LaneDoubt the new owners will require much use of the local buses
unless they open the site to the great unwashed in some way..2 -
But will the neighbours ever be home when you pop round for a cup of sugar?Patr100 said:

Many people only used their front room for Christmas, Easter, birthdays or when MIL came round for Sunday tea.Silvertabby said:
Back in my gran's day, the 'front room' was only used for laying out or serving tea to the vicar. It wasn't as though they had an abundance of room, either - it was a 2-up 2-down with an outside loo, and daytime living for the 5 of them was spent squashed in the back room/kitchen.Patr100 said:
What, no "living room"?GaleSF63 said:
I thought the lounge was where you entertain, and the sitting room is where you read the newspaper or might trip over the children's toys.NaughtiusMaximus said:
Plenty of people refer to the main room of the house as the lounge, IME the word is actually more commonly used in that context than sitting room.General_Grant said:
In the description it converts them to 1/2 reception rooms.NaughtiusMaximus said:
From the floor plan it also appears the only way in and out of the 'sitting room' is through the windowspringmagpie said:https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/80173242#/
Who needs this many sofas??
Also I've always regarded lounge and sitting room as two different terms for the same thing. Saying the house has both is a bit like saying it has 1 toilet and 1 loo.
Homes have sitting rooms: hotels have lounges.
Then there is the "front room"...
I can't live here.
What relatives (no longer around) said as well births are usually performed there and when grandfather died, his coffin was in the front room.2 -
