I think that is actually a fairly normal sized kitchen for one of these large shared properties. Renting in this country is the worst.

Yeah I've seen similar before. My friend lived in a 7-bed house share and the combined kitchen and living room wasn't much bigger than that kitchen. She moved away and then moved into the same houseshare when she came back. I was baffled, it a pretty miserable place and not much cheaper than anywhere else in the area.

Saying that I was in a 5-bed and one of my housemates moved her boyfriend in without asking anybody so we had 6 people and a kitchen that wasn't much bigger than 2m x 3m. And just one bathroom between us all. I was out of there as soon as the 6 month term on my lease ended.

Because it's the basement and the plumbing works with them where they are?
The "Reception" room is on the ground floor.
