No windows on at least two sides of the upper story, and gloomy as anything.

Judging by satellite images, they look like sheds at the end of someones garden. Overlooking the railway line & East Ham depot - Lovely (not).

Details say there's a shorthold tenancy in place.  Can't see that place being acceptable to rent!

D'oh! I forgot to check satellite

I've heard that there are places in London where satellite shows many buildings in people's backyards. Some of which might be rented out illegally, with no planning permission etc.

A quick and easy way to become a slumlord. Just buy this property.

Looking at housemetric.co.uk, it seems that in 2016 when this was last sold, it was described as:

    • EXCELLENT INVESTMENT BTL PROPERTY
    • AFFORDABLE PRICE FOR FIRST TIME BUYER
    • CHAIN FREE
    • RESIDENTIAL STREET
    • GREAT SIZE ROOMS
    • CONCEALED ENTRANCE
    • GOOD TRANSPORT LINKS
    • A MUST SEE PROPERTY

That's beautiful. Barnards Castle isn't far from us. We passed it just the other day.
Ah, but did you see it?

That's exactly what we always say when we drive past it!!! :D

Looked better before. I wonder if they have had a flood. https://themovemarket.com/tools/propertyprices/2d-barrington-road-london-e12-6jh

In the photos from The Move Market, the upper floor does have windows. At the back. I wonder if trees/hedge have grown up and shaded them.

And, these figures (from @Green_hopeful's link) don't make me think this is a bargain.

45% smaller, but 5% less expensive .... Hmmm....

Returning to 'I wonder if they had a flood?' I suspect it was nighmare tenants.

Judging by the photos in the listing, there is a serious problem with damp & condensation - Not seen the outline of blockwork through the plaster before... Black stains on some of the walls & ceilings kinda confirms it.
Maybe a slumlord trying to offload his problems on to someone else ?

My wild guess, and it's nothing more than a wild guess, is that someone bought the ... 'property' in 2016 who had no idea what they were doing. I imagine (no reason to think this accurate) that they thought a BTL would be a passive money pit and they just sat there waiting for the money to roll in.

I also noted the mould patterns. I've never seen that either.

I'm still thinking (over a long term) that I will buy a property for my son. He would like to live in London, but it's too expensive for me to justify. But, once in a while I'll look through the cheapest properties in London. And, it's not uncommon to find ... horrors.

Hmm, Concealed Entrance implies it's trying to fly under the radar, doesn't it?
