Hi Sarah, do you have you boiler repaired yet? Was thinking off you last night we had gas engineers doing work in street so my heating wasn’t on for me coming home from work, it was chilly.

Just caught up with your diary. It seems like every diary I've read everyone's getting festive already!
Are those posh candles worth it? I'm using one from Wilko at the moment to freshen the living room up a bit. I've never been sure whether it's worth paying extra for a brand name when it's something you quite literally set on fire.
Another dehumidifier fan here btw... glad you're feeling better these days.
Thanks for catching up. The candles are deffo not worth it and I don't intend to buy any more but use up what I have. I only ever brought them in sale or like last year at outlet store near me on black friday where I went mad last year and brought 8. Also got two for Xmas as well. Onto the stronger scents now so only got one on the go at a time so hopefully last longer as well now.

Thanks I'm still getting so much from it, but don't know if that's because I work in the room all day and sleep there all night. But basically I empty it in morning when I wake up and again at night before go to sleep. 2 litres every time. Cold is back now and with a vengeance.

Haha, I’m also using a candle for heat. I’m not in control of the heating here and my room gets pretty chilly (used to be a garage). Imagining it’s an open fire flickering out of the corner of my eye.
Haha it really does work I have to say. Maybe try having more than one on if you can as provides more warmth.

No sadly not. Another of my housemates colleagues went down with covid so she had to extend her self isolation which ends at midnight. She also had a test herself Monday due to 4 out of 9 testing positive they said for everyone to get done. Waiting for the all clear so can book in next week but tbh between the dehumidifier and candles not really needing it at the moment. Think I will just have it set on a low level going forward until gets a bit chillier. See how it goes.

  • Majority of Christmas shopping done for me now. Only thing left is photos for my dad's album and my friends scrapbook but I'll use a free printing app so just pay postage. Gonna have a rummage over weekend through box of pics my mum had of us in kids and some of them will go in the album for my dad. Also got lots I have printed in past of his grandkids that can go in it too. Think he will like it as he's always saying he wished he had more pics of the grandkids.
Did food shop on weds for stuff to get me through most of week. Just need more milk at weekend. Need to cut back on my fizzy drinks though as brought 2 bottles of 2 litre PM and only got half a bottle left now. That was good thing about when was drinking cans I limtied myself to 3 a day. Which is still a lot but less than drinking at the moment.
Had to order some new boots as mine have sadly given up the ghost. Got 2 good heads out of them, I basically lived in them during autumn winter months. But got some 25% off so happy with that for now. Just have to hope they fit as you have to order online these days sadly. But taken out of my personal spends so gonna be a long month in that respect. Have to cut back on the takeaways. Probably a good thing.

  • Thanks for the reply re: the candles. I'll stick to the cheap ones then!
I hope you can get repairs arranged soon. The weather's been alright lately but I don't think candles will keep you going for much longer. Maybe you could replace the fizzy drinks with some cups of herbal tea to keep you feeling cosy? Better for your wallet and health, and nice and warm too! Assuming, of course, you like the taste of tea.
Fingers crossed those boots will fit you!

  • I also got addicted to fizzy drinks when OH was on a diet for the wedding and he had diet coke for sweetness (PT programme!). Now I have a can after lunch and dinner and it cures my sweettooth, but definitely addicted. I also drink 4 cups of coffee a day (this has increased from 3 prelockdown...) so unsure herbal tea would work for me 😅 maybe I need a lbm about fizzy drinks to combat it 😂

Ginger tea is where it’s at. I used to drink a lot of coffee, now I have a couple of cups in the morning and ginger tea for the rest of the day. The stuff I have is quite pricey but it’s delicious (£30 for 200 bags).

Couple of slices of raw ginger with hot water is also lovely.

Not a fan of ginger tea or herbal tea in general tbh but I can drink decaff normal tea so maybe I need to go down this route

This is so me. I have about 4 or 5 cups of coffee during the day and then in afternoon evening several pint glasses of fizzy drinks. It's an expensive habit although it has just reminded me that I can drink Morris0ns Coke zero and tesc0 lemon and lime zero drinks as both are actually OK for supermarket versions and a lot cheaper so maybe just need to make myself buy that instead and only have proper stuff if go out or special occasion. It might also help cut down on amount I'm drinking.

Plan is to have him come on next week providing housemates test comes back all clear. He said it's a fairly easy job so he should be able to fit it in one afternoon/evening for me. He's my brothers neighbour so he's quite good to us.
Not a fan of herbal tea tbh not found one I really like the taste of. I can drink decaff normal tea though so that might be the way to go. Also I have brought myself some nicer squash to encourage me to drink more of it. And when I do drink it I'm like Ooo this is so good but then the thought of knowing I want fizzy but shouldn't be having it often overrules that logical side. Ha.
I have ordered two sizes and will send back the ones I don't need. I'm now maybe thinking I might send back both tbh I will see when they arrive as not likely to be going out in the cold for work anytime soon and have trainers and my lace up boots for casual. So maybe save the money and get a decent pair next year in the sale or next autumn. I'll see when they arrive how they feel and if like them. If don't love them they will be going back.
