  • Dehumidifier has been on all afternoon. Top up good shop done. Massage done. Dvd player for dad done. He also gave me £100 for Xmas which was helpful. So atm it's gone into clothing fund for now so don't touch it for anything house related whilst I decide what to do with it. Could do with some new leggings as had to throw some away and new bra. So think could put some towards that and maybe leave rest in the clothing fund as I'm sure at some point I'll need some other bits. Though sensible part of me says put it towards the new sofa. Have time to decide I suppose.

  • We had damp in our old flat and also dried clothes indoors so I had a good dehumidifier on all day every day. I'm actually just about to put it on marketplace as we no longer have a need for it!
  • Good evening. Just saying hi after you posted on my diary and I saw you had one too. I will have a read through your diary at the weekend while DH is at work.

We done on putting the money away for you. We get money from the parents and it always gets swallowed into the food shopping or school trips or something.
LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554
    Mortgage@1 June 18 - £76350

    Debt Jan 25 £8282

  • Just catching up on your diary Sarah. If it rains it pours! Hope you have some luck with the sofa! I decided to clear my 0% debt as soon as possible rather than saving alongside it. Next month I should be totally debt free 🤞
Personally I'm ready to move on to life after debt so I just wanted it to be over. From the new year we will *hopefully* start to plough savings into a new house fund (we'd like to upsize in a few years but keep the mortgage payments quite low).
Debt Free as of December 2020 👏

Thanks I'll leave mine on and see how goes. I haven't left it on overnight yet though just in case.

Thanks that's what I was worried about that it would end up going on bills and stuff.

I find myself torn between the two. I think for now I am going to save until the new year and I have paid for all things that need doing and then see what's left of my savings/emergency fund and clear the debt at that point. The issue then lies with which card to clear first. Think might have to be the one with sofa on as that 0% ends first. Everytime I think I am getting somewhere something goes wrong it seems.

  • So woke up this morning to my wall actually wet to touch and windows dropping with condensation. Not good. Think might need a better dehumidifier by the looks of it. So my dad's £100 has gone towards that and I'll put the mini one in my housemates bedroom. She doesn't seem to have an issue but with winter coming laundry will start being dried inside so will help with making sure that doesn't cause an issue. For now will keep it running in my room until new one comes tomorrow.
I can't have anyone come look at it or the boiler until next Friday anyway. My hope is the dehumidifier and the heating working again will sort it out and that it's just a condensation issue. I can't see any problems from the outside, I.e no cracks in walls or anything. Only other thing is to ask next door to look at it from their side. But think that will be a job for the weekend. I can make a more informed decision then hopefully as the dehumidifier would have had a few days to work it's magic. For now I have cleared the window sill and taken the net curtain off as don't want it getting moldy and soaked the condensation up for now. Not sure what else can do until then. Wondering whether should have my mini heater on in my room or not? Why does it have to be so complicated.

  • Regarding the dehumidifier
You need to shut all windows and doors in that bedroom only
    Have it at max setting
    Never turn it off !
What should happen initially is that it should fill up pretty quick
If you are at home during the day for example , then I'd advise you to keep windows and doors in your bedroom closed and have it running for 8 hrs constantly .
when you go to bed, you can leave door open ..but repeat the process next day.
You should find that by the third day , you can just leave it on everyday on smart setting .
    Dont forget Black Friday deals
Amazon have started theirs now I think .
    EBAC make good dehumidifiers
Then again , there's always Qvc..
  • Drying laundry inside causes condensation unfortunately .
