Mel you've got two seperate things to deal with. Housing are only interested in recovering any unpaid rent you owe. It's hard to work out what's happening with them. It looks as though they still have you as joint tenant .
What sort of help are you getting elsewhere? Shelter, aid agencies etc. The HA aren't working for you but Shelter and others will point you in the right direction.
It is possible to claim some benefits . As long as your friend is ok with you using the address you're living at the moment you can make a claim. However check it out with Shelter to clarify if any benefits your friend may claim will be impacted by you claiming.
Is any agency involved with finding you accommodation?
Housing association will just chase the debt to them.
They're aware you stopped living there six weeks ago but haven't changed the tenancy. Concentrate on speaking to Shelter and others who can best advise you. You will have arrears to pay but the sooner you get better advice the more likely your name can come off the tenancy. Any arrears to that time should be under an arrangement which once you're claiming benefits are affordable.
If you seek help to find somewhere to live with an address you can use things will be easier.

I am using the job centre address to claim benefits whilst I look for work.
Am multihomed at the moment and didn't want to use any of the addresses

With WA in your corner things will be ok Mel.
Things may not be easy but look how far you've come in just a few weeks. Using the job centre is the best idea. It's obvious you're doing your best to sort things and move forward.
Just refer anything related to the rent arrears to the advisers.
I know it's hard but try and have a break this weekend from any messages he may send to the phone. I know you prefer to keep up to date but they'll still be there on Monday..
Just remember rent arrears etc can be sorted in time. With no proper income at the moment you aren't in a position to put a plan in place yet.
I've no idea if he's been paying his share of bills but that's his problem not yours.
The weather has taken a dive here, cold ,wet and miserable. Hope it's better where you are. I'm going to dig out the flannelette bedding. once I've done that we'll probably have a mini heatwave.

    It's beautifully quiet
I had a great day yesterday, caught up with a really old friend who knew ex first. The one who wouldn't talk to me and helped me decide to go.
    It was really good.

Had a call for potential work
Out of my usual skill set but I think I need to look at stuff that's not as intense
    Oh
I also appear to be paying back exs overpayment so that's mother thing to sort out and one of the reasons I want to get back to work as soon as possible
  • I think it would be a really good idea to take on a less intense role at the moment.
You can ease yourself back into work at a steady pace.
You've so much going on the less stress the better.
No idea why you find you're paying back exs overpayment but the sooner that's sorted the better. If you've had money deducted they need to credit back to you.
When you were planning to leave and I advised you sever any financial ties  did you check everything?
I hope you had a peaceful BH weekend.
