This is my first proper month of writing everything down and planning ahead. I seemed to spend a lot in the first week and it sort of balanced up in the second week. This week we have adapted the menu - had leftover dhal so had it two nights instead of one (hurray for the Aldi bhajees and naan in the freezer). Tonight we are having pasta and tomato sauce with the veggies meant for the veggie burgers last night. Its almost strange not having to call into the supermarket everyday rushing round trying to decide what to have for dinner and always buying some extra 'bargains'. I'm hopeful to be near to budget by payday, but its even better that our food bin isn't full and we definitely haven't wasted stuff or over indulged - I didn't think that would be an extra benefit of this challenge.
Its just me over the weekend so that will be easy as I have lots of eggs to eat - cheese omelettes - and will have one of my fave pizza's as a treat on Saturday (around a £1) with the l/o coleslaw. Week 3 shop on Sunday - actually looking forward to the challenge.
ps has anyone noticed (I'm sure you have) that if you type a colon : you then get a menu of smiley faces and you can type any letter to get a menu of smileys with that letter and a description. I've just gone through A-Z - this one is Z and its dizzyOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Spending update - I have spent £87.93 of my average £200 per month, and we have plenty of fresh and stored food. Slightly peeved that the whole tray of tinned chick peas I picked up at the foray to a Cash and Carry with my friend went missing, but I paid as it was on the receipt. Back to dried ones from now on - I pressure cook them and freeze in old take-away boxes for a can's worthSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

There is likely to be a further small shop this weekend but we will see. I haven't thought too much about the meal plan this week. Tonight we will have curry and tomorrow possibly freezer surprise. Afternoon all, meal plan is working really well as it focuses the mind when doing online shopping.
I've changed Saturday's delivery to c&c so it reduces the spend for £40 to £25, the freezer is pretty full but I'm using most of it during this month.
I'm up to £240.93 so need to be careful so I get to the end of the month in budget. Like many others I appear to spend loads in the first week of the new month then have to reign in the spends.Grocery Challenge 2024

£12 in Lidl including wine. 6 more days of this month doubt I’ll spend much more but then who knows.7

£10 added to my signature, which will be updated/corrected when I find the receipts, add the totals & remove the stuff that doesn't come under the "grocery budget" heading! It's about right, though; just a little top-up, mainly bread, some of which is in the freezer already.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6
