:oEvening all
Spendy day today - dentist, hygeinist and then took DD1 out for lunch for her birthdayThe we looked round a castle, in my unsuitable long coat as I wasn't expecting to have to clamber up and down medieval steps :rotfl:Luckily not heels as well :eek:
But had cheapie porridge breakfast and dinner was leftovers from the fridge, so not all bad - now need to note spends in my diary :eek:
What did you think of the Swedish emporium CLF? I have only been once - I was quite impressed with the textiles, and I have seen kitchens that look quite good, but I really don't like the furnitureI am a bit of an antiques / vintage lover, and find it nondescript and lacking in any sort of character
I know it is quite cheap, but so are my old things.

Evening everyone
Just caught up with the thread. This week has gone so fast.
I was away last weekend for work and came home absolutely shattered Sunday evening. I also came back with 2 infections and a reaction to a new foodstuff:eek: GP was less than impressed. I was quite shocked bec as work weekends go this was one of the least busy ive been on. Took snacks so not a lot of money was spent.
This week has been alot of just resting up and binge watching Midsommer Murders, Jonathan Creek and Doc Martin:) in between paperwork:(
But have kept the money saving faith. When i have been out to the shops ive only spent on items ive needed:T.
Have been making the most of sale items with discount codes for birthday presents. Saved myself quite abit so far
Banking has been checked everyday-everything good.
Food has been from the freezer and brought snacks back from the weekend
Cat sachets delievered from amaz@n, works out alot cheaper than the supermarkets
Been using up the last of the toiletry bits that DD left behind.
Bought some planned storage boxes to put charity auction items in and my Christmas shoebox items in. It felt great having a tidy up and a declutter at the same time.
Have been doing some touch up work, have the paint and bits in. So far ive not managed to drop paint on me:rotfl::rotfl:
Aim for Feb-must get my spends book up and running again
1LL i'm so glad that you have managed to get dentist problems sorted out and that u have a new one who sounds alot better
ditty i hope things are going better for u.
Thats about it from me. Have a great evening everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hmmm, well where to begin?!
Warning - boring long story post!
TL;DR I didn't like it
I've been looking for a new dvd shelf. We seem to be the only people in the world who are still acquiring dvds (albeit at a reduced rate of gain now). And we like them. They had really outgrown the current shelf unit (plus one tiny unit picked up at a cs). The problem is, the unit is in the nook at the side of the fireplace, and due to it being an old inglenook fireplace, there are beams and sticky out bits of wall so the unit had to be specific size.
I've been looking on FB market for months, thinking that an old bookcase that we could add shelves to would be the answer as the nook is such a non-standard size. If we owned the house, I would have actually got a joiner in to build a cupboard I think. But essentially, it transpired that the thing that would fit in the space was a 2x4 Kallax unit. The only issue is that Kallax cubes are much taller and deeper than dvds. However I saw some hacks on the internet where people had built a little shelf into the cubes to get 2 staggered rows of dvds into each cube, so we decided to go for it. I was trying to get one second hand but we were rapidly approaching the point at which I wanted to wrap this project up, so we decided that £55 wasn't too bad and so we went.
Our nearest emporium is Warrington, which is a not very nice, motorway-based 35-40 min drive away. I think that every idiot with a car must have been on the M56 yesterday. Perhaps that soured our perceptions of the shop. I was fully prepared to like it. I really like homeware shops. And DIY shops. I like to mooch round The Range and B&M looking at storage tubs. I even like a trip round B&Q, looking at all the paint colours and wallpaper and 200 different hinges. I had visions of coming out with a lot of things that I didn't need. Although, like you Dawn, I'm not a massive fan of their stuff stylistically.
But the sheer amount of things was just overwhelming. I knew that they made you walk round, but I wasn't prepared for the place to look like it did. I expected something more like a big Wickes, as opposed to the fully kitted out rooms. OH kept saying "Haven't we seen this bit?" to which the answer was "nope, it's even MORE stuff". I think both of us were quite freaked out and it really impressed upon me the sheer volume of THINGS that we (as humans) consume. And the amount of stuff that we just buy on a whim, or to fulfil a fashion. New colour scheme? Meh, just bin those old cushions that had plenty of life in them and buy some cheap new ones from Ikea! Chuck that lamp! Towels a bit faded? Stuff buying Dylon! New towels!
I came away feeling quite dirty for having bought a new unit. (Although yes, we did see a nice kitchen :rotfl: Dawn - I think we must have similar tastes.)
PS: the new unit looks very good and holds all the dvds with room to spare. We thriftily cut up the old units to make the little internal shelves. OH also managed to rejoin the centre section of the old unit that held the CD's and we have moved them to the nook the other side, and moved the LL's grotty lamp into the dining room.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Morning all.
Hope everyone is ok.
Today I have/ will:
* Check banks
* Park for free and walk to work
* Finalise budget spreadsheet as payday today and realised I'd forgotten to include an expense I need to pay out for this month, so need to work that in
* Check OP/PA
* Chase up item I ordered but haven't received
* Go to the gym at lunch
* Dinner from stores
* Wrap homemade present
* Do some crochet
That seems a very short list - you will notice the absence of "make lunch" as I seem to be rebelling at the moment! I'll keep trying though!!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £6,450.00

I have to admit to never having been to an Ike@ having heard so many stories about it.
The food intolerance, the only connection that could be linked was wotsits:(. Im allergic to a substance that is naturally found in so many things .i have to patch test any new toiletries(just stick to what i know) and when the skin specialist identified it he was here is an information leaflet, its found in lots of foods but its very rare u will have a food reaction. How wrong he was, esp as my immune system is shot to pieces so i now have to carry epi pens:(
Some paperwork done already-that wont last:rotfl::rotfl:
Banking all checked, everything good
Was going to pop out later. The weather is shocking so unless it improves im stuck in with the paperwork and might do some more touching up as some how my new decorating has black marks up the wall and apart from the cats i cant see where else it would come from.
Really proud last night. Gave under my bed a good clean stuck on my belly (specialist would have a fit!) and slotted one of the new storage boxes in where i had made space previously. Not money saving but oh the satisfaction of decluttering and having things sorted tidily made me very happy:). Im going to keep going with this throughout the year as it costs nothing except if i need a storage box plus ive still got to get the living room decorated-saving for this.
Right off to check quidco (forgot again)

So my day ended on an up yesterday - got home in my own car, still with £3 in my pocket, ds mad dinner while I vacuumed, ate a slightly medium dinner - his heart wasn't in it but it did the job, I slept, woke up w terrifying dreams this morning about my oldest ds (rutine) operation, so calmed myself, and am back at work, phone's on buzzer though, his dad is there as he doesn't work Fridays and he'll drop him back to mine tonight for a week+ of recovery.
Hopefully that's my car trouble done (for this year). (And for ever.)
So now back to MSE :-)
And this will involve getting a used spare tyre, so I can decide where I buy a new tyre next time, it cost me £70 and I would have been perfectly happy with a budget tyre for £40.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Morning all :hello:
I’m with you CLF and the amount of ‘stuff’ in the emporium and often people with big trolley fulls. My advise would be not to go on a weekend as being forced round the whole place when rammed is just :eek:
My list today:
Paid a customs charge on line - annoying but needs must
Payday :j but can’t do my money shuffle as DH has tidied and put my book with my workings in somewhere !
Also need to ask DH where he’s tidied an important envelope to
Meals from stores
HM crumpets just proving
Free appointment this afternoon for a new treatment, going with an open mind.
Film and snuggles on the settee with smalls later
