You've listened to it and still have no idea which isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.

Most governments should have acted quicker

    containment has now failed

doesnt mean they shouldn’t try to reduce the R0 now the cat is out of the bag

The R0 of covid19 is above 7 meaning for everyone who gets it on average infect another 7 people. And then those 7 infect another 49 and so on, it grows exponentially

if the governments take measures like China has done then they can get that R0 down to under 2, so for everyone infected only 2 more get it and then those two infected only 4, then those 4 only 8 and so on

but for the UK to do the same as China they need to stop everyone going to work and print trillions more pounds to pay companies to keep paying their employees even though they are not going to work, just the same as China is doing
Where do you get an R0 of 7 from? WHO reports around 2.5.
It’s 2.5 in China when nobody goes to work or school and strict quarantine lockdown.

Estimates are more than 7 before the lockdown of China which is what we are right now. Around 27 days incubation period so I wouldn’t be surprised if the average is way more than 7 if no restrictions are yet imposed
Lovely! I refer to WHO, and I can show you exactly where they say it, if you like. You refer to "Estimates", without any references. You really do show yourself up, I'm afraid.

Oh, and the idea that WHO would make the sort of mistake you refer to is pretty extraordinary!

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Probably not enough to stop you going to work and certainly not sufficient to risk not getting paid by self isolating.

Such a selfish approach perpetuates the problems.

If you worked in a tannery in China, don't get sick pay and felt a bit under the weather what would you do? It's easy to take the moral high ground when you can afford to travel there in style.

It's not like the UK - when we had Swine Flu I knew people who 'phoned in sick with it twice (once because it was in the news and the second when they really caught it. There'll be no problem with under reporting in the UK. Historians will be amazed by how Brits managed to catch Covid-19 twice in a month.

I don't believe you. One payday away from struggling to feed your kids and you'd risk a months quarantine because you feel a bit rough? Like I say - easy to do the right thing when you're in the top 1 - 2%.

I've never had flu and seldom get a cold. However, I'm on my third cold since November for some reason. I'll dial 111. No, of course not, that's why it's massively under-reported - most of the time for most people it's trivial.

The news is about exceptions rather than the norm.

There is lots of discussion here, but no anecdotal evidence of any effect on the poster or friends, family or work mates.
So presently everyone and everything is exactly as before.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Him and all the other preppers seem ecstatic with the situation TBH. ;)
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
