Universal Credit mistake and not paid Urgent help

Pls what could I do as clearly the actual amount I received in the assessment period do not reflect the earned income payable for that period. I was paid on 20th and job ended then and then claimed 23rd. My employer paid in arrears not in advance.since I new claimed I've not worked and been unemployed for that month period and they did not give my entitlement for it due to the conning from universal credit . I've rent to pay and my credit cards are almost empty and payments are just about covering the interest from it. I've had to wait 1month to find this out and have done all what they asked from the start . This is totally inhumane.
I dont know if you can change this with UC as this is how it works. I don't know why you feel you have been conned, I dont know what you were told but if you told them you were getting no more payments from Your ex empliyer then the info they gave you may well have been correct. however you did not give them accurate information about your actual pay day/pay period (as I dont think you realised this yourself) therefore the info they gave was based on incorrect information.
Speak to your council. Have you made a claim for council tax reduction? They may be able to award a discretionary housing payment to help you. This is unlikely to be your full rent if your full UC is your full rent.
However, going forward clearly something needs to change as you cannot use your whole UC payment for rent as that will leave you with zero for food and electricity etc and this is only going to get worse. Are you able to find another cheaper place to live? How is your work search going? What area of work are you in?0 -

What do you disagree with?
I appreciate you are in a financial crisis at the moment but so far everything they have done has been in line with UC policy. It appears you were giving inaccurate information but unfortunately you claimed before you final salary payment and that has caused this issue. Am I blaming you in any way, no. You finished work, you made a claim. It makes sense. However you were paid up to and including the 27th, it just so happened that was Christmas so you were not physically at work.
Unfortunately disagreeing with it and calling them conmen is not going to help you. You need to look at this which actually help you. Did you read anythign I put about making provisions for the future, contacting your council for a DHP, contacting UC for an advance? Sorry but continuing to post on here saying it is inhumane is not going to get your rent paid.0 -

Again I respectfully disagree with your post! This is incorrect. UC have put me in a financial crisis!
I wais paid on the 20th in arears for my last weeks of work. The job ended on the 20th. I no longer have a job there unless they give me another job. I claimed on the 23rd. (I was not paid on the 27th nor up "to and including" as you describe). My pay slip and bank statment clearly state when these payments came into me and the details of it and that is what UC ask for on their website application ! I did not claim before I was paid my final salary payment. I dont understand why it is difficult for you to understand this. I'm losing out on my full monthly payment because of this and they informed me on the last minute.
When I spoke to the UC on the phone they said they can't see any advance payment we will book you an appointment. What univeral credit have done to me is inhumane and unlawful and it has put me in a financial crisis that I don't know how I will recover from this that is why I am here asking for help.
It has made me not aware that I will recieve no money after 1 month. They said I was approved, kept on messaging me that I will recieve a payment at latest 25th or so of january and I would know the details earlier and when the day came by, here you recieve £0 because of your decuded income (this is from last months income, this income does not represent the assessment period). Not only do I find it inhumane it is a farce and has made me depressed. If you are not going to pay up why take an entire month and assure the claimant that they would be expecting an amount and get them to come for appointments and then pay them £0, in my ees this is an unlawful conn. How am I to survive and pay my rent! DHP is a lengthy application from the council and takes at least 2 weeks to get a decision and they said that DHP is for shortfall of rent.Any one who lives in London knows that the rent is sky high and asking someone to get a months rent at the last minute who is unemployed is inhumane.
Please only post something that can help I'm now depressed and in a desperate state. Even getting a job today the job will not pay me a monthly salary in a day this is something I would need to work every day for weeks and then get paid at the end of the work period.0 -
If you are going to react like that to posts then I am sorry people will not be able to help you. What is incorrect?
Your pay, as you have stated your self, included money up to the 27th. Your pay period was up to the 27th of December. Your payment was earlier because of Christmas. It is not me that is not understanding, it is you.
It is not an unlawful con. You claimed on the 23rd and your money was reported to them as being paid on the 27th, which is correct according to others earlier who know more about RTI and HMRC than me. The information they gave you was based on a paydate of the 20th. If you had told them your payday was the 27th and was made early due to Christmas you may have been given accurate information. We will never know now.
I have seen a DHP form at my local council and I would not describe the application as lengthy. You say it is for a shortfall of rent, yes, and you have a large shortfall in your rent... What is the issue?
I am offering you options it try and help you get some money. it may be that you cannot get any UC for a month due to your final salary payments. I am sorry but repeating how inhumane it is and telling people not to respond because you are depressed is not going to pay your rent.
I am very aware you are clearly in financial crisis but people here are trying to help you with options. We cannot just tell UC to change your date. we cannot change UC policy. Have you called UC and tried to explain what has happened, clearly, factually and concisely (without calling them conmen and inhumane...) as maybe they CAN do something. A commenter above (spoonie Turtle) says they got it sorted in this same situation. have you acted on their advice?0 -
I don't know if you'll get anywhere. Yes it's unfair - that's how Universal Credit is designed.0

I'm not sure what what you are expecting the people on this forum to do.
They have given you very good information about how Universal Credit works.
It's no good shouting at us all. People on here are only trying to help you understand- they are not miracle workers! Please don't be so disrespectful to these people. Some very experienced posters on this forum have been trying to help you."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."

Regardless of all this, you would not have received payment by the 25th because you didn't claim until 23rd December.0

I've been trying the advice given and I also sincerely thank people for taking the time to help me and really want to thank every one gain. It's depressing, i'll doubt I'll get through this but thank you.
I did follow exactly what was asked on UC website application and put the dates in there as show on the payslips and my details. I will be putting in a complaint formally because it’s as if I’m being penalized for working before claiming. It looks like the uc is run by a bunch of clowns.
I appreciate any help to get me out of this universal credit mess.0 -

Come on most agency work pay's weekly - if you aren't fussed and haven't applied for much else, then the depressing couple of months or less stint do offer weekly payment terms through an agent. For example anyone starting work this week would highly likely be paid next Friday. If I had zero bank balance and no prospect of knowing I'd x amount of second interviews, that my CV wouldn't be damaged with yet another short term job, my priority would be a temp'ing assignment and ensuring I was right time, right place.
Could you ask family for help?
You could put yourself as Immediately Available on the reed job site - don't have to upload a CV as it lets you build one as part of your profile if I recall correctly.
It is a crying shame you did not take an advance in the early days of your claim and then put it away so at least you would have something for now.0
