Sorry if my comment that "Drug problems are everywhere in the country"

    wasn't made clear enough

    Edit

I didn't say drugs were more prevalent in seaside towns either.

Sorry if quoting you post seemed like I was singling it out, wasn't meant. It was just a general comment on my part, I should learn to multi quote the correct posts

    Apologies

I personally would never exchange Cornwall for cities anywhere else in the UK but thats just me. I dont think some places I have visited is suitable to raise children, but then that could be just me with the rose tinted glasess on influencing my decision.
But honestly having lived in a rural area all my life I wouldn't live anywhere else for all the money in the world. So you have to translate that to what you desire for your kids too.
  • So what did you decide OP?

  • Well, our house has been sold (offer accepted, solicitors appointed) and we are off this weekend to view properties and visit the local school....

Still not definite we are making the move (we are struggling to find something to buy and reluctant to rent in case we never find anything to buy) but everything is being put into place for a move to be possible over the Summer.... :)

Ah, I've just made the connection: you're the potential  Berrynarbour bungalow buyer. With the 'Boris bounce' already evident nationally I can understand the reluctance to rent, but I'm not sure that it'll have much effect in these parts. Besides, once Covid 19 kicks off, big time, we'll be into a global recession soon as cough. (Could be a good case for a hideaway in the hills, though, especially for old fogeys like me!)

We rented before moving here, but we were after something slightly harder to find in the price range and I was surprised to locate it in only 6  months. It's all right for me to talk; prices were still tanking at that point and we were getting 6% on money in the bank, so profiting.  Nevertheless, Nostradamus-type predictions aside, I don't see N Devon prices doing anything remarkable suddenly.
