Anglea well done to ur son and hopefully it wont be too long before u see DS2 in person.
I hope everyone is keeping well and staying safe.
I was slightly surprised but very happy to receive my leaflets for the link to hope boxes. I am going to finish my first box tonight watching a Midsomer Murder episode. Small treats are certainly the best.
I think they are very being proactive with things people can make during the lockdown for their boxes, putting extra things on their website which I thought was really good.
They also provided a date for the bags of education so hopefully I will still have plenty of time to send them.
Went to pick up a few things first thing at Tesc@. Theyve moved the animal charity collection point so u can drop stuff off going in which i will do on Wednesday.
Present wise still no further forward. Hopefully wrapping a shoebox might kick start me into wrapping other presents including a birthday present for next month.
Stay safe everyoneDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Happy_Kitties, I think I’m going to jump in and start the shoe boxes too. Something to do that’s positive and will help people right now. Going to look at the different types and things they need.I’m sure I have plenty in the present drawers and cupboards that would be useful. Does anyone know of one similar to the kids Christmas toy appeal but for now too? I have so many little presents for school friends..who knows when they are going back, so at least if they can go to someone who needs them now.Starting crocheting the little hearts for intensive care patients. A nurse friend who works in and out of ICU in a local hospital told me they were looking for some. It’s for people who can’t have family near them and are on their own. Something small to hold and know they’re being thought of.I seem to have stopped planning for Christmas right now too. Just dealing with anything more immediate. Anything that can be positive right now.Hope everyone is safe and well. If anyone needing them isn’t already drowning in homeschooling items, I strongly recommend Twinkl. They have hundreds and thousands of free printable worksheets. And at the moment there’s a code floating around for a free premium account, to let you download anything from the site, not just selected items. Got some amazing pre-school learning packs and some fun activities for my little one. Some nice outdoorsy games and thing to do in the garden too, to get some fresh air.Book a week challenge: 11/52. crazy cat what a lovely idea about the hearts. I remember seeing a call out for children's art work to decorate the Nightingale hospital. A few people sent me the link. Turns out it was a hoax
.
I keep a notepad of all of lists etc and it includes my Xmas prep. I'm now having to write quite a few of my lists due to the lockdown, as it means that I'm having to change plans. It is a stark reminder of what is going on in the world.
Othewise, is a lovely day in my part of London and we are going to go on a family walk later on.

I just realised that SIL has a big birthday coming up next month. We normally give her money and have a family meal. I suspect we will still be in isolation, so it means we won’t be able to celebrate with her. She is a single parent and doesn’t have much money, so things are difficult for her. I’m thinking of putting together a little hamper of treats for her that we can drop off (from a safe distance). Things like a homemade cake, mini bottle of wine and anything else I can find around the house or can get when out shopping.3

I think that is a really lovely idea for ur SIL chanie. I think she will really appreciate the thought and being spoilt, especially the way the current situation is.
CCL2 its interesting about the hearts as our local hospital has just started to request them. We have a massive community group making PPE items so no doubt they wìll be getting stuck into making hearts.
Didnt get to do my first shoebox, but will keep it as a treat with a Midsomer Murder episode. Dont watch alot of tv at all and have been rationong programmes i want to watch.
Did pull sone presents out from storage yesterday. So far they are stuck on the spare bed........they will get wrapped!!

I went through my stash box this morning and I found a fold up bag with SIL's name on it and a pair of socks that I can put toward the birthday hamper.2

I haven't been here 'cos... I 'm not keen on this site any more! I think I solved the password thing by not logging out!
I don't seem to have much to show for anything! I can't start on my shoe boxes as I don't have any! I always get mine in Ireland and I should be there now.......but do have a lot of the contents. I knitted 5 1/2 pairs of mittens on the cruise. I have been shopping once a week- concentrates the mind on exactly what to buy!! (and what will fit in the fridge) The car isn't happy as it's diesel it likes a long run...........
Turning out- shredded a whole pile of banking stuff and filled a bin bag. More of that tomorrow, especially if it's as cold as today.
I've signed up with Duolingo (free) to brush up on my German and aim to do at least 10 mins a day. It's really good- very user friendly, esp for children I think with points rewarded, goals etc.
I have a free gift from Jacquie Lawson cards which I can forward to friends- a kind of interactive garden and also a curio shop. If anyone on here would like to have them please pm me with your e-mail address and I will sort it
Keep safe. Keep well

Katie I’ve been learning a language for two weeks now. I can understand more than I can say, though. I might try German as well. I did GCSE German and although I can only remember prayers (Catholic school) I think it will be easier doing a language I am already familiar with than starting from scratch. Danke schon, bitte schon, auf wiederschon.

Wrote a reply earlier but somehow (easily!) managed to delete it!
I think the Doulingo has a good mix of written and spoken language- it's perhaps a bit gimmicky with points / badges etc but you set your own goals. Lots of languages from which to choose. I wish there was a bit more written grammer, but perhaps I haven't searched website sufficiently.
Gern geschehen, bis bald, tschuss!! (All new to me!)
You're welcome, see you soon, bye

Katie - I have tried to avoid the written grammar. I’m learning Greek, which has a different alphabet and I can’t be bothered to change my keyboard on my tablet in order for me to complete written exercises. I would just like to learn a few phrases so that I can have a basic conversation when I go in holiday.
my link leaflets have arrived, but I haven’t opened the envelope yet. I have four of the six boxes I need but it’s difficult to do anything when you aren’t supposed to go out. I’m collecting bits and pieces from around the house as I find them (mainly the children’s old toys).3
