hi all, I seem to be getting the posts all in the wrong order on my screen so am muddled up which one's I've read last time. So I'll do the replies tomorrow and just my update now. I thought to myself there wasn't any special occasions until June until I read an email today from Ds's group home asking for his uncle's address as DS made him a card. Wow, I've overlooked this.
As I don't know how long it will be before I'll ever go on my trips again, pirate pubs etc or be able to shop in local stores which are currently shut, I'm thinking of making my friend some kind of picture relating to our favourite places, unsure yet if it will be drawn or how I'm going to do it (months of experiments coming up) her birthday is in December. I'll also need a few backup ideas for other projects. Possibly even to make a video using photos as well as crafts somehow. I've been sending videos to DS with me talking over images that are of significance for him.

No paperwork today-DIY touch ups which i am dodging
Third shoebox completed and wrapped last night along with a Christmas present. Started to listen to a couple of christmas tunes at night, the same every night. Think they're more of a security blanket than anything but focused on birthday presents at the minute.
Charity organiser came up with a good idea. U could choose from a selection of items which she would giftwrap and send. It was amazing how many bought an item for themselves. I managed to get two gifts for two schoolfriends ive known for nearly 40 years. Its a landmark birthday for us all this year. I was so pleased as there is no way i could of done something on the same scale and one was for a friend who is a key worker on the front line. Quite abit of money was raised from the idea aswell. It was def a win win.
I hope everyone is okay and staying safe. DUncle has already said he won't be over for Christmas this year. I think depending on what happens, i will be sending a big parcel of birthday presents over for that side of the family and the same at Christmas. Hoping things really improve. Stay safe everyone

  • Hi. Hope everyone is ok. Not been on in a while. Having a read and catch up on all the messages. There’s not much going on here. Actually bought a few stocking filler bits the other day and small
presents to go away. Been catching up on a LOT of garden jobs and decluttering. Besides that and attempting to homeschool, all quiet here.

Any socially distanced VE Day parties going on for anyone?

    Hi everyone,

I thought I'd drop by and see how you were all doing (wishing you all a nice bank holiday weekend).
It was SIL's birthday last week.  As it was a big birthday and that we are in isolation, I wanted to give her an extra treat, so I raided my stash and found some spare gifts, which I put together in a hamper - a bath bomb, socks, handcream and a candle.  I wrapped a  cardboard box in wrapping paper and decorated it with some leftover decorations from my birthday.    I'm so glad I had a few leftover gifts in my stash for these type of occasions, as it cost me under £10 and it was much appreciated.

I hope everyone is keeping okay.
Chanie the hamper u did for ur SIL sounded a real treat and extra special. I bet it was very much appreciated.
Real life seems to have run away from me, work took over and DIY touch ups i've been doing extra and having a good tidy.
I have some cards to post today. Was hoping to do this morning but the weather is extremely windy with some rain so won't be getting anything done in the garden.
Four shoeboxes completed, but two were from last year where i just had to replace the choc.
Im ready to go on the 5th if i had a shoebox but nice to have a breather.
Have 2 lots of birthday presents to get out. We're still in full lockdown but at least i could get them wrapped for when things ease.
Think bank holiday will be more diy touch ups plus need to do an online course.
Feel totally off track with presents at the minute but at least cards are going out with a little note to check friends and relatives are okay.
Have a good bank holiday weekend everyone x

    Hi everyone.
That was a good present Chanie you got together. How is your health Happy Kitties?

Now that people are allowed to go on short trips, I hope to be meeting DS2 with his support working in a nearby field (with benches) this week, first time I would have seen him in months, I hope he won't get upset not being able to hug etc
I heard from DS1 at the weekend after being awol, he's been mentioned as co-author in a scientific report, relating to that work he's been doing with biologists who are setting up portable virus testing labs. Sounds as though he and his gf and doing well living and working together in a couple of rooms.

My only special occasions work has been writing a birthday card to mail, I'm not able to send a gift as all shops shut here and I don't do online shopping.
Where I live in the countryside there's been a Lockdown Scarecrow craze, over 300 of them so far. Just to be different, I've got fairies attached to a large shrub in my front garden, I missed the deadline to get onto the map and as both my next door neighbours have scarecrows I thought I'd do something different and much easier as I already had fairies in plant pots. The scarecrows have been mentioned on BBC and ITV and on Joe Wicks instagram as there's one of him.
Anything unusual where any of you live?

angela I just had a look at some of the scarecrows, what fun! There are no unusual goings on in my corner of London, unfortunately.

Birthday wise, the next few months are pretty quiet until it picks up in the autumn.  I haven’t done any Xmas prep (despite telling myself that I will).

i hope u have managed to see DS2. It must have been really hard not being able to see him and even harder that u can't hug. Well done to DS1, without people like him we would be in a much worse situation.
Health is okay, has been behaving. Spare room is set up as an emergency treatment room for the district nurses and i have so much treatment stuff stored in there.
Wales is just beginning to come out of lockdown, with the weather, town is def busier. We dont have any scarecrows going on.I went through a village once during their 'scarecrow festival' it was amazing. I had never seen anything like it before, with all these different scarecrows in peoples gardens.
Posted a birthday present yesterday. Apart from still needing to send my father's day present, that will be it then until Sept on presents.
Im like Chanie, i havent done any Christmas prep. I have things out ready to wrap and normally bec im not a hot weather person now are the times i would be wrapping but i have so much going on with work, ive just left the presents. Did buy DD some bathtub gin. That is also sitting waiting to be wrapped. I will get it done!

I bought a couple of toys today from Lidl.  The same items are coming up at double the price on the Tesco website, so I’m pleased with my lockdown bargain, and it means I have finished two more people.
I want to get vouchers for two people (beauty treatment and restaurant), but it wouldn’t be wise to do so at the moment as nobody knows what December will be like,  I could put the money aside, but it doesn’t feel complete until I actually have the vouchers.

I still need to do my wrapping!!
Things are just sitting there which is not like me. Usually when there is hot weather im wrapping as im not good with the heat outside.
Ive parcelled up more items for the charity auction im involved with. Ive noticed some people are buying alot and prepping their Christmas shopping now. Dont know if people are being prepared in case of a full lockdown around Christmas time but people are def being more prepared.
I just really need to get myself more sorted as it will make my bedroom look tidier for a start!!!
Hoping to get a birthday present to a friend tomorrow. Have to have a small procedure tomorrow so can call after on the way home and have a social distance chat or just leave the present outside the front door. The rainy weather is not in my favour at the minute.
    Stay safe everyone
