I have had some support today, although it took dgd till 3pm to wash up the dishes accumulated from last night/this morning. But I stuck to my ground and only washed the two bowls I needed for the boys breakfast.
DGS2 was a pickle last night and didn't settle until nearly 10pm. I can at least say he then slept until 5 this morning! But we have been up since then.I woke DS at 8, and he actually got up and took the boys to daycare and collected them at 3.
i organised my side of the conference call, and have supplies of interfacing arriving tomorrow. The herringbone tape arrived this afternoon.
I went for a rest about 1.30 although I forgot to turn the door bell off on my phone so I didn't sleep much.
I have left DS to the boys.
dgd attempted a very small amount of school work but all I got was moaning about it being too difficult-and that was only art. !I am going to read up on the next subject tonight so I know what she needs to catch up on.The book on Social Stories has arrived along with a book on self esteem for DGd. Although how I am going to engage with her I really don't know. One step at a time.
We have enough pasta bake from last night for the kids. But it is Tuna which I cannot stand the smell of so I have left DS to serve it and I have come upstairs out of the way.
definitely more rest today anyway.
The social funds arrived in the nick of time to cover the DD's.
so no more impulsive purchases for a while so I can get the budget back on track and within the new lower income .When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.6 -
I think the powers that be have possibly removed some messages as my notifications (which keep ending up in the spam folder) had said someone had posted, but I didn't read it expecting it to be here when I logged in.
oh well if it was not suitable content then perhaps I am glad that I haven't read it.
I spent the evening in my room, except for popping down stairs to grab a bite to eat. DS appears to be listening to me, but I can only give one instruction at a time.
he sorted out the connection for the solar panel on the van, and got the water pump fixed. He was cleaning its microwave when I left him to it.
when Dgs2 woke at 2.30 he was in and sorting out the bottle very quickly, so I was back to bed and left him to it.
although I chose to bring Dgs2 into my room at 6 this morning. He woke at 5.40 but I didn't intervene until he started to make too much noise and would wake his brother. Who woke at about 7.
they are watching a lego programme on tv while I was sorting out my usual emails, bank balances etc.
having used my savings pot for the van, I feel more vulnerable and will be hoping to rebuild it as soon as this crisis is over.
there was little interest being paid so I would rather use the savings then borrow more. it was a risk because of the economic situation I know, but it does have a few advantages. I don't have to hibernate in my room ( unless I want too), because as soon as the boys are in bed DS is out in the van. (But he has the baby monitor and is coming in when he hears anything). He actually got off his bum and worked on it, and he did both school runs.
I have told him that he is to remember that it is my van, unless he wants to pay for it, and that I might use it to take My Mum away, in the future. I have thought about Portugal as mentioned. But it would need to be after the children are sorted. But for now it is just an outside spare room. Time will tell if I made a mistake or not.
time to make a move and get these boys breakfast etc
they are going to daycare today and tomorrow. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.7 -
If it is any encouragement to you, we have had campervans and then motorhomes since our daughter was three years old. We have been all over Europe in ours. Kids seem to love it. We prefer a few days in a place and then move on, but have also stayed for a week or two on each campsite. Lots of different experiences and new friends to make.
Maybe, just maybe it will spark an interest for your son. I think I recall you mentioning that he has some fabrication skills. Who knows, this might lead to a new job either through enjoying the renovating work or to finance the same.

S_s, I'm glad that your son is taking on a bit of the workload so that you can rest more (((hugs))). Hurrah for daycare! It's not difficult!

I have done very little today.
once the kids were in daycare I watched TV, read a bit, had a sleep and totally ignored the jobs around the house.
ds worked on the van.
dgd did about an hour of school work, (not enough-but a start)
I did turn around just before coming to bed and ask DS and Dgd to actually stop, look around and notice what I haven't done today. There was a little scurry of activity but not enough to make me think that tomorrow when I go down stairs it will be done.
we will see.

I hope that you have taken the router up to bed with you! That will ensure that DGD and DS go to bed bit earlier .... ;-)

I'm sure they both have data on there phones so don't think that'll achieve to much.
Not been on in a long time, though have read along savvy! I honestly think dgd is just being a lazy teenager who has a lot of other things going on, they seem to need to sleep and learn a bit of attitude! Though if she's/was finding it hard at school it would have been hard for her. I'm glad ds is helping though you might not always mention it doesn't mean he's a monster as your responsible for the boys now. Sorry you hurt yourself it'll heal in time. Glad there helping even if it is slow, some people just don't see mess! Take care.4 -
Unfortunately Dgs2 has been awake since 5am this morning. I gave him more milk and hoped he would go back to sleep, but no such luck. He ended up on the top bunk and waking his brother at 6am. I could have taken them down stairs but I was feeling lazy, so they are here beside me in my room.
I forgot to bring up milk portions for the tea so I haven't made it yet. I might as well go down stairs to do it in a few minutes now.
The people at the daycare were really good to me yesterday and kept them for two extra hours and gave them their dinner yesterday. Although they are not able to do that today as they don't have as many staff. But that's fine. Having a day off yesterday was good.
the interfacing has arrived so I can get it couriered to the coordinators today. I have some children's fabric coming, but I am not sure if it is going to be thick enough for the scrubs although yesterday I was told that they were going to just do the pockets etc in childrens fabric just now, as the fabric they have is too thin for the actual scrubs. If the fabric that my chap is sending me isn't suitable for the scrubs then when my hand is better I will use it to make a range of children's clothes out of it. I know that I want to be doing more makes when I get back to work, and reduce the alterations if I can.
Mind you there is nothing to reduce at the moment.
Time to get that tea and make a move.
still two hours before they need to be at daycare. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.6 -
I'm glad that daycare helped out yesterday so that you could have a quieter day. Sorry that you were woken at the crack of sparrow's f**t this morning though, I hope things aren't too trying today. It's not difficult!
