I hope that it stays that way. Christmas has lost its meaning, and has become a stressful and expensive occasion. It really needn’t be.

I am going back to the cabin this morning and continue with my Christmas bags.  No wrapping paper this year, I hope.
My plan is to sew for two hours things for me or to sell and then the rest of my work shop time will be the alterations.
Talking about time, I would like to get out there before 9.30 so I better skedaddle.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

It's just a lot of twaddle now.
No small one's in our family so no need to go overboard.
    We are happy with this.

I am hoping to go down to the caravan for Christmas week. Be a bit of a squeeze in the car so we will hardly have any room for a lot of stuff. I think I will go down for an overnight trip if DS can have the kids, and I can take a few non perishable things, and a few Christmas decorations.
It’s also Dgs2 birthday Christmas Eve, so need a few birthday related things and a cake. We won’t need Christmas cake.

I am not sure but I think I will need DS to either come down and help me or lend me the big car so I can empty the van then as site closes from 2nd Jan to 3rd March and all the power, water, gas has to be turned off. So I will need to remove anything from the freezer, fridge, and all the bedding.
So I better have a chat with him sooner rather than later.

Due to lack of space at home I have vacuum packed ( with the help of twin2), all the spare bedding, and it’s stored under the main bed.
I have looked at the 10 day forecast and think I will get away without draining the water before I come back again. The kids will be seeing DS so I will pop down and have a chill out day/night for me, then The weekend before we come for Christmas twin2 is planning on coming down to decorate the van and will probably stay here.
We can’t come any earlier as I am waking for the Muscle Food Christmas delivery. All our meats and veg are going to be delivered. No dashing out to the shops, and all paid for a good while ago.
It’s a beautiful day here and the view from the front window is lovely with the autumn colours still on some of the trees, and a glimpse of the sea between them, is so calming. Not to mention the squirrels busy playing just outside.
Dgs1 raided the fridge around dawn! And ate the “flat cheese” making him sick, so he is being very quiet at the moment.
nearly lunchtime, so I better get moving.
Ham sandwiches or fried egg ones.

  • Hope you and yours are well ; It's taken me a while to get back to the forum as the ribs  have been very painful and with it triggering the old rotator cuff tears sleep has been pretty hit and miss.
I was woken uo a couple of hours ago by either the air ambulance or air sea rescue rescue helicopter not sure which as it flew overhead but the milkman was due to leave the bigger holiday order so I decided to wait until I could bring it in and put it away.
Did you manageto arrange the christmas break? DS helping out with the bigger car seems like a good idea
Hopefully those who were ill are feeling better now. Biggest seems quite unlucky having to replace her car.
I have been very lucky that none of us have had the virus or flu or any of the other bugs doing the rounds although we aren't living under guidelines anymore  we have behaved as though we are and apart from damaging my ribs I've been fine and no one has caught the virus, flu or norovirus.
hope your school goers stayed well. It has been in and out for a lot of youngsters.. Thankfully only my youngest grandaughter is still in education and things haven't been too bad at her Uni.
It sounds as though the due to be birthday boy is getting excited , Think you need  to lock the fridge as his excitement seems to coincide with being sick.
Did you manage any makes? I was trawling through the big river site and there were a lot of wonderbags on sale. Some from private sellers others from Africa . I did wonder if you'd get a chance to make any for sale. I still struggle with the machine but it's been a perfect time for making wonderbags with the cost of living crisis.
I always used those big storage bags to store the winter weight quilts , bedding and spare soft furnishings. they do save a lot of space and fit neatly in cupboards without attracting dust.
I hope dgd and Twin2 are getting on well together and your dear mum is well and your brother.
Watching the weather forecast last night wasn't very hopeful for the NW but I can stay put. Last week was icy with freezing fog and as my ribs have just started to heal I didn't want to risk a fall
Sending good wishes to those on the thread. Try not to have too many falls beanie. Stay in with Miss Summer when the weather is bad . We have the nurses on srike and the ambulance men. To be honest I don't blame them it reminds me of the winter of discontent back in Maggies day.
I hope you've had the backdated PIP you're owed andcan keep warm.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to one and all.
We are at the caravan, and have been for a couple of days. Twin2 had it all nicely decorated and warm, and had put the Asda delivery away.
We went walking on the Beach on Wednesday, to Bournemouth yesterday, with a trip to the oceanarium, the rest went on the Ferris Wheel ( not me as I had a claustrophobic attack in the Oceanarium, so getting one in a glass box high up wouldn’t be good
we had a late lunch in one of the cafes near the pier, before walking through the winter gardens to see the decorations.
Today we have been down to a different beach playing with the metal detector, finding crabs and generally enjoying the winter sun that had broken through the clouds after some pretty heavy rain throughout the night and early morning.
we have all had one bug/virus after the other this winter and I am just about better now, except a cough. I was the last one to fall ill.
so luckily we are all recovered for the celebrations. Dgs2 is 5 tomorrow, it’s hard to grasp how fast they are growing.
Dgs1 is still very much a handful, but that is not something that is going to change.
Twin2 and DGD have their moments but on the whole it is ok.
I am plodding along, but I am wondering what I can do in 2023 as my hands really are not good if I do a full day’s work anymore.
Maybe it is time to rethink my work situation.
I have been thinking about it a lot lately.
We are here for several days yet so no doubt I will find time to journal.

When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • i had to check I had posted thought I had but fibro brain sometimes makes me forgetful. It sounds as though all is going well with you and yours. It's been really cold here so not many bothering with beaches. The years do fly by. It's suprising how old little man will be. It doesn't seem long since he was born!
Having a rethink is a good idea. You always did assess the years as they passed. I don't have anything like the energy I used to have and prefer to do whatI can without stressing.
Sounds good Twin2  and DGD aren't tearing each other apart.
Beanie make the most of some rest. After you put your heart and soul into the foodbank I found it really upsetting people you'd worked along side were so cruel and judgemental. For goodness sake they are volunteers in a foodbank and not there to judge someone whose worked her socks off as a trustee.
Being critical of someone wth a health condition that sometimes causes them to have falls is very much against the disability act.  most of the time you know where you are wih a cat though not always.
TBH I'd have been tempted to report those who were so nasty to you. If the weather is bad north of the border you can stay in bed.
I think you're better off without them, they're fair weather friends. Just cudde up with Miss Summer
