Box sent off to Vintage Cash Cow with the old flute I couldn't sell, a couple of silver bangles and some old currency. I took the coolest banknotes (second world war French ) to a specialist dealer as I happened to be in the big city yesterday. Said they'd be quite something if in good condition... but they're not
Such a shame! I'm going to keep a couple in my memory box just for fun but have sent the rest off to VCC for probably a few quid.
Also gone this week is a goodly size bundle of kitchen bits n bobs, a bag to the chazzer and am just waiting for someone to collect some of DD's outgrown clothes. OH and I have been Kondo'ing our booze collection too this weekSome just had to go as it was off/flat and sent one almost-full bottle of Vodka to a friend as we don't drink it, but have to admit we've been taking care of the gin personally (in fact, am doing so as I write
)
I've got to the point now where I'm going to have to be ruthless. I've given away a lot over the last few weeks but had hoped to sell other things (some brand new). I'll just have to let them go and accept the 'loss'. As the house is quite chaotic and I'm also not counting everyday recycling as decluttering (like seems to happen on the other thread!) so maybe progress seems slower than it actually is. Just trying to stay positiveChoose kind11 -
Good morning, lovely peeps, haven't been around for a while, life has been busy and I'm not (yet) feeling the lurve for the new-look forums, but let's not dwell on that. Kondo-ing has slowed due to various IRL problems, health being chief among those, but I am poddling on sloooowly and a few areas are starting to show improvements, although there are plenty more which need work and there have been some (very useful honest guv) 'ins' from my beloved Everything 50p chazzer. Today is a day of wild and woolly weather so I intend to be home-based and a-busy about decluttering, catching up on some chores and practising the dark arts of domesticity. One thing I've thought of doing is putting a piece of masking tape on the handle of each of my many screwdrivers and adding a five-bar-gate hash when I use each one (they live jumbled in a drawer). I am sure some of them are never ever used and could be rehomed elsewhere, but I'm not sure which ones. I bought most of my screwdrivers in an inexpensive set, and I know I only ever use the biggetone for prising the lids off paint cans, although it's wonderfulness for that specific purpose means it's worth keeping, imo, to prevent me trying that with one of the good ones and potentially damaging it. What are your thoughts, please?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Greyqueen, I have recently sent all our cheap scredrivers to the metal recycling, as the tips had all lost their edges and were useless! I am now in the lookout for some decent quality (secondhand) ones. Keeping one for lifting lids sounds reasonable.
I need to start taking picture of things I want to sell and post them on selling websites. I have about five months before renovations start and I really want to be rid of most before then.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.5910 -
Never even occurred to me to declutter screwdrivers, oops - but yes, tools take up a *lot* of space, and I don't have the ability to use a lot of them. La la la, not thinking about that now ... but I will! I *am* catching up on things, a lot of it is tidying and cleaning, but one piece of decluttering was great - the kitchen isn't bad, but when I bought the new f/f (old one died) it had a drinks rack that could be attached in some way. No idea how, and it just sat there, cluttering up the veg drawer. I've realised I want the veg drawer space, not the drinks rack, which I'd never use anyway, so when I go to the cs tomorrow, to put in clothes and rags, thats coming with me.

DDs are at my parents' for a week, so I have uninterrupted cleaning/sorting/kondoing time! (Apart from my hours at work
...). Tonight, we have a friend fly in and eat with us; she'll then go to her sister's place to stay. I can't do much while she is here, but I can put the washing machine on with dds' bed linen and air their mattresses/duvets/pillows for a whole week
.
Our tools should be kondoed! Husband has a collection of 3 toolboxes, and does not keep anything sorted or in its proper packaging (for instance: we have two sets of wrenches, each with a proper holder to keep them together and easily pick the right size; husband has deliberately removed them from their holders and chucked them in the toolboxes willynilly. It drives me crazy! Every chore takes three times as long just looking for the right one). He has given himself a Complete Toolbox Wheelycase for Christmas, which he stores in the study (huh?) and declared that all the other toolboxes can just go to the tip. I do not agree; over the years before I met him, I collected a set of very useful, good-quality tools, and I would like to keep them.)Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.5910 -
I realised that I mostly use No 6 or No 8 screws, sometimes crossheads, sometimes straight. Very occasionally, I make use of my mini screwdrivers, such as tightening my glasses screws. Most of the things in the home actually belong to my landlord and aren't for me to DIY, I tend to do most of that kind of think up on the allotments.

I seem to have quite a few screwdrivers of varying sizes. They sit in a drawer with lots of other tools but don't really want to get rid of any, they will come in handy sometime!
I tackled the large cupboard off the kitchen, it's really big and goes all the way round under the stairs. I'm ashamed to say there were two boxes in there from when I moved in 6 years ago! One had mostly electrical cables in, extension leads, etc, they are now all in the bin and a large bag of kitchenalia that's never used is heading to the charity shop. There's so much more room in there now, I even bought a trolley for the DGD's art stuff so it's all in one place and can be wheeled in and out.
Is it wrong that I keep going in and having a look?!8 -

Hi everyone, I haven't posted here yet as I generally loiter around the decluttering thread.
I have half been following this method though, I find the "joy" thing incredibly useful because it helps be to be completely honest with myself about what I need to keep. I also love the folding/storing method. The only difference is that I am still decluttering by area, not by item, because that works better for me right now.
Really enjoying getting rid of clutter though.Debt Free Journey started 21.05.201711 -
Thanks Karmacat, I'll put them all in a bag and leave them in the car for when I go over that way.11
