Evening all - no spend day today :T

Well.except 50p change as 'santa' came tonight (a local guy get pulled around the streets on a sleigh for charity). the kids loved it although the beard was completely unconvincing!!!

dales out watching the football so i can have a soap-a-thon without pained sighs between each one. gonna snuggle down and have some pasta I think - comfort food. might put a bit of parmasan on top. the boys had chicken and beans (an odd combo i suppose but they didn't mind). its somehow alot harder to be bothered to cook a full on tea when dales not home. hardly any washing up to do thou - yey! keeping on track with the groceries - had toad in hole yest and tomo making a corned beef hash i think - yum!! to the traditional 'kennett' family recipe which basically involves corned beef, a tin of beans, a bit of stock and anything else you fancy bunging in with it!

morning all - i've had a stomach bug for 3 days now and i wish it would go away. although, i'm also hoping it might help me lose a bit of weight pre-xmas! nothing like a bad tummy to put you off food.

dropped a booboo yesterday in forgetting it was mine and dales 8 year anniversary (of our first date). felt really bad when he came home at 10.30pm with chocs and a card - for about 1 minute until i realised that he'd kept quiet about it all day because he wanted to go out and watch football and knew if he reminded me i'd want to spend time together! so now we're both sulking. classic.

also had an ebaying throwing a strop and threatening me with negative feedback because a pair of used shoes (clearly described as worn, particularly on sole) could do with reheeling. i listed a pair of £75 shoes for 99p (she bought for £10). she emailed me demanding £5 for reheeling plus £2 because I'd charged her £5 postage and packing when the actually postage cost £3. i dont think £5 is excessive p and p do you? at the end of the day I have to pay for packaging and factor in time and effort lugging everything up to the post office. anyway, lesson learnt and i'll defo be more detailed in my descriptions to avoid irate buyers in future.

hoping for a no spend day again today - although i have to go into town to bank a cheque so my will power will be tested!

  • Hi Roxie,

Sorry to hear that you are poorly. Hope you feel better soon.

Don't be too hard on yourself with the spends today, you could have ended up going into town and spending far more!!

    Take care.

Hey people - feeling better today which is good, but not so good on the money front. Dale took half a day off to 'look after me' and we spent £10 on bits for lunch. Then we took the kids to the school xmas fayre and spent £12  which is rubbish but they wanted to see the santa and i bought a school calender and some fudge and that was it!

funny thou, the santa asked todd what he wanted for xmas and todd said transformer bubblebeam (bumblebee) the one thing i haven't got him - and then the santa gave him a gift (obv a selection box) and todd came out over the moon saying santa had given him a transformer bubblebeam!! poor little thing. he was like, well i didnt ask santa for a selection box, i asked for a bubblebeam. lifes full of disappointments eh!

trying to think if i've spent anything else today. i think thats it. it was tempting to get a takeaway as i soooo didnt feel like cooking and there wasnt anything defrosted but i resisted and defrosted some mince in micro to make chilli with jacket pots. so thats redressing the balance a little!

haven't earnt anything today - did a couple of £1 surveys but not adding them until i can cash them in.

planned the weekend - tomo, the kids have a party so thats a free (ish) afternoon for them ( ineed to get a card but am using a freebie as a pressie). then sunday we're having a treat and going out for lunch and to watch the golden compass - its in the budget so its ok. just gonna enjoy a day out. cant wait.

    have good weekends everyone! xxx

Ok, not the best money saving day i'll admit. I spent £10 on bits to make cobys xmas nativity costume and £20 on grocerys - although that included a half price chicken thats gone in the freezer and a birthday card for the party. on the postive I made £5 from the last ebay bits i had to post off. just finished watching transformers dvd with the kids (used our blockbuster vouchers) - damn its long. kids loved it thou. think we're going to see the golden compass tomorrow, although dales plans to be up all night watching the hatton fight (i HATE boxing so am trying hard not to get on my soapbox with everyone around me acting like its the best event since whatever), may scupper it. depends on if he's moping about tomo saying he's *whiny voice* "tired".

Right, obviously the grocery budget is just careering out of control so next week is gonna be a cheapy eats wek - just gonna pop off and have a look whats in the fridges/cupboards:

mon - carbonara with garlic bread
tues - chicken, bacon and cheese wraps
    weds - bolognaise
thurs - pizza, chips and beans
    fri - chinese chicken noodles

need to buy: tortillas, noodles, oyster sauce, prawn crackers, tin tomatoes, tin beans.

no more than £10 worth right?? plus say £5 for milk and other bits. Can I get through the week on £15?? fingers crossed!

Ok, have decided - we're taking kids to see golden compass today and we were gonna have our lunch out too. BUT - have decided that we'll go to the pics but miss the meal as our family fun budget is looking abit scary and if we dont do this we'll end up going overbudget closer to xmas. Willpower required!!!

Willpower employed - yey! Am cooking a carbonara instead of eating out. Although the cinema cost £33 for the 4 of us - it seems to get more expensive every time. film was good thou - although the sitting through 30 mins of advert before it starts is not so good - boo!
