Hi pip - thanks for posting. you may not realise but you're keeping me motivated so thank you!

went to see a friend who's husbands away last night - dale took me but the way home was a £6 taxi (the kids were in bed so he couldn't pick me up). still you have to prioritise your friends right? plus, its very rare i get a taxi or even the bus as i hate paying for it (particularly taxis). i walk everywhere come rain or shine. i struggle back from the supermarket with 4 bags and 2 kids in tow. the (very) odd taxi is much cheaper then me having/running/maintaining/insuring a car so thinking off it tha. now just to find where to stick it in the budget....

  • Roxie I had SPD with my 3rd baby (now 20 months old). I had it for the last 10 weeks of my pregnancy and couldn't do a thing. I asked for a c-section but they wouldn't let me have one, so I had to grin and bear it and go natural. I lost all feeling and use of my legs during labour which was was v scary, but within 20 mins of giving birth I was sitting cross legged on the bed with no more pain! I was amazed! I have had the odd twinge since but nothing major. I have a friend who had a baby a month later than me with SPD and she still can't walk properly now. I think I was lucky! I had to wear a sexy white support belt .... nice ;)

    hi spendalot!

ditto with the sexy white belt - i also had an old person wooden walking stick to go with it. at its worst thou i couldn't walk at all, slept downstairs on the sofa bed with hubby having to shove me upstairs from behind when i needed the loo! it would take me half an hour to get up the stairs - total nightmare. i'm a total glass back now (and was also left with sciatica from an epidural with my first baby). together with the veins, stretchmarks, jelly belly and thunder calves that have never gone i think us women have a pretty rubbish deal compared to men!! (although my boobs have beared up through 2 lots of breastfeeding ok which i now feel the need to tell anyone and everyone cos i'm so proud of them!) too much information... believe me, when it comes to the subject of birth I could go on and on....but i wont - phew!

£100 was my shoes so thats going towards my jan mini spree fund :j

was going to do all my totalling at the end of the month but to keep me motivated I'm gonna add the £175 to my sig now. :D

really struggling to do the daily clicks routine. despite others saying it takes them 10 mins it seems to take me hours! i still haven't managed to get through the whole routine without dying of boredom yet.

gonna attempt it this aft and time myself! also gonna do some comps and see if i cant win my way to the 50,000!

ps got my driving test date through - 21st Jan boo! means i wont be having any lessons for dec so also added the extra £20 i had earmarked for a lesson.

i feel so antisocial as i'm keeping all the curtains closed to try and keep in heat. i bet my neighbours think i'm a right weirdo!

kids have got a birthday party so am going to use the books i got free from grolier world of disney (through quidco for cashback) - saving £5 on a present.

    Hi alex

thanks for the luck - not even thinking about it until new year now though - be gone all thoughts of driving, be gone!!!

i know, am well happy with the challenge. Are you doing the challenge or any others?

just got the post and very happy to find a 3 month unlimited voucher for love film - as many dvds and games as we want for 3 months, which is brilliant because we normally buy £25 book of 10 from blockbusters which lasts 2 months so it will actually save us money. not sure whether to include it in my challenge total thou? will post on that thread and see what they think.

also, got a special offer for 10 cosmos for £12 (normally £3.50 each) which isn't technically saving money but will help me to keep my monthly mag budget on track.

actually, i think i'm doing really well with mags as at one point they were a massive addiction for me. i literally used to buy pretty much every magazine going when i was working to read on the commute (3 hours to and from london). when i was wedding planning it was especially bad as i'd buy all the wedding ones at £5 a go. i had literally hundreds and dale made me get rid of them. i was nearly sick at all the money wasted! i was so addicted that although we used to get all the celeb magazines free at work (research for tv work! nice work, i know!), i used to buy them anyway! i never ever dared to add up how much a month i would spend on mags but roughly totting up now i imagine it was in (whispers) treble figures :o

i still haven't read the NOW magazine that i bought yesterday - that is very good going for me! cos i'm on mse all the time :rotfl:

  • Hi Roxie,

Just wanted to say really enjoying your post, it's a great read and very motivating!

Wanted to add too well done on the magazines, I too am addicted slightly to buying them as have myself a 2 hour commute each way too and from London. They become kind of a habit once at the station, however I am trying to share mine with friends at the minute as they know I am stuggling bless them all. Do hate the commute though, never see daylight at the minute!!

Keep up the good work, can only hope I am as motivate once my DMP is set up properly!

I'm aiming for the "pay a debt off by April" challenge. I only have one loan and want to get it paid off by my 25th birthday (11th April). I need to find an extra £2000 on top of the normal repayments and when my expenses and overtime get added to the money in my savings account at the end of the month I should be up to about £900. So I'm doing pretty well so far, hope it lasts!

Hey, if you're going to be buying Cosmo anyway, it sounds like moneysaving to me! You need some treats after all.

I'm usually terrible for getting Heat, Closer and Now but have managed to stop buying them for a while. Luckily one of the girls I work with is as hooked as me so she brings them all in for me the day after she's read them, bless her.

i usually donate to mates - i did hope that i might get the favour returned but noone buys them (prob cause they're too busy reading mine!!)

what really annoys me is when its the same celeb gossip/pictures/truelife story repeated - why am i buying the same mag twice:confused:

sounds good with the pay off debt by april challenge! so when thats gone you'll be debt free then?! We're about the same age then, if you're coming up to 25. its a great age to be!! good luck and keep me posted!
