Happy New Year!
So I decided a new shiny diary was needed for a brand new decade.
As the title suggests it is about me being more mindful in life and seeing the positives. I have decided not to set any major goals but to live life in a more harmonious way, having had cancer it has taught me to relax, slow down and not sweat the small stuff, we can make plans, set goals but we never know what is around the corner that will tip your whole precise, orderly world upside down.
Sorry if it seems as though i'm waffling but I need to brain dump.
Be positive, be thoughtful, be kind, smile and say something nice to make others feel good.
Walk the dog (even in the rain) don't rush listen to the birds, take in the scenery.
Read more, make a cup of tea and escape with a book a couple of times a week.
Stop and sit with DD/DS and talk, switch off phones, ipads etc and talk.
Ask myself everyday what did I enjoy, what am I grateful for and what am I satisfied with.
Spending on needs not wants, can I borrow before I buy, can I make it cheaper, sell to fund new needs, use gift vouchers, ask for items for birthday, Christmas etc.
Use it up and wear it out, if its broke can it be fixed.
Keep ebaying and doing surveys.
Travel - A family holiday is non negotiable, DH is self employed and a workaholic and he only ever switches off when we go away. So I see it as valuable family bonding time.
Food - Meal plan, stick to grocery budget, bake/cook from scratch, take lunches to work and eat leftovers.
So we still have some debt from buying cottage which is around 3K need to do a proper check for an exact figure, this is on low apr and is being paid off, not stressing about as its manageable.
More to come...…..

Happy New Diary!!
I'm also trying to be a bit more mindful this year too, starting by reducing time spent on social media and in front of a screen. I'm hoping to plan more adventures, getting out and about and also reading more.Wobbling my way out of debt one month at a time

Enjoyed - today I have enjoyed spending time with DH, DD and DS, we went out for lunch and had quality family time just the 4 of us, its the first time over Christmas and New that we have had chance to do this, spent £40.
Grateful - for my family, my lovely dog who is always pleased to see me,my chickens laying eggs again and a woodburner on such a cold and wet day.
Satisfied - with how Christmas went and how much money we spent.
So today we have had some family time and then DS went to meet his friends and is now at work, DD went out on her horse for a bit before the rain became to heavy, she is full of cold but seems to be ploughing on through it, she has gone to bed though with a hot water bottle.
As we ate out fro lunch I just did Jkt spuds for tea with cheese and coleslaw and eating through the mountain of mince pies, chocs and carp left over from Christmas.
Baked a lemon cake as had some lemons looking past their best and also made veg soup and a chickpea and spinach curry, these have been portioned up and are in the freezer ready for lunches when I'm back in work next week.
Used some Christmas money to buy a pair of boots that were in the sale in clarks, my last pair of clarks boots lasted me 4 years so fingers crossed these do the same as it will be £37 well spent.
Found several bars of soap in the airing cupboard, so going to make a little soap bag to hang in the shower and use them up instead of buying more shower gel.
Grocery shopping tomorrow, its been 2 weeks since I last went so might be a big shop, but meal plan has been made and grocery list written out.

Hi Penny,
What is a soap bag? I also have loads of soap which I never use, and seeing as I have three drawers and a huge pile of hair, body and cosmetics stuff, I could do with finding ways to use it up!https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6086606/debt-free-by-23/p1
True LBM, December 2019 = £32934. Current Debt = £12762. 1% Challenge = 61.1%. #51 3-6 Month EF Challenge = £1200/£6000

Hi thanks for posting, they are just little cotton or towelling drawstring bags that you pop your soap in and hang in the shower to stop going squidgy, I have seen them on etsy and ebay but i'm going to make one out of some cotton muslin that I already have.

Thanks! I might try my hand at making one too. My soap would definitely end up in a gloopy mess around the drain!https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6086606/debt-free-by-23/p1
