    Scottish BS - Sort code is faster payments enabled (as I have not had my passbook updated since it was opened, I cannot advise whether faster payments are credited same-day by the building society);
    Loughborough BS - Sort code is not faster payments enabled;
    Halifax International - Sort code is not faster payments enabled.
  • Echelon101, thanks but the Santander First Home Saver (Special Issue 1) account is already listed in post 8. Looking back, I added it to the list over a year ago (on 7th December 2008 according to post 367). It is funny to think that the interest rate used to be 8%!

    All the best,
    SS2

    Reading error... :)
    Buy for value not cost.
    Feb Grocery = £55.87 / 80
  • Special_Saver2, I noticed that Derbyshire and Cheshire savers now have the bonus rate untill 31.1.11

    I rang them both to check, and you can only hold one issue at a time. Although you can have both Derbyshire and Cheshire accounts.

    Keep up your good work with this thread, shame its not a sticky !

  • Hi Folks,

    Here is this weekend's update:

    - Nottingham BS Branch Fixed Rate Regular Saver added to posts 3 and 4 (it runs for just over a year at the moment!) - note that you cannot close the account or make any withdrawals before 1st February 2010. I cannot get the PDF document from the Nottingham website to open on my computer so I have taken the details from emoneyfacts, moneyfacts and moneysupermarket (which all give the same details for this account)
    - Derbyshire BS and Cheshire BS Monthly Saver Issue 1 accounts replaced with Issue 2 accounts with a bonus that runs until 31st January 2011 (was until 31st October 2010 with Issue 1)
    - For the accounts above, I have added a comment you can only hold one issue at a time but that you can hold a Derbyshire BS and Cheshire BS Monthly Saver at the same time (as per Careful_ly's helpful message above, thanks!)

    Thanks for the encouragement and helpful posts above.

    I will do another update next weekend.

    Until then...

  • Hi Folks,

    Just a quick post to let you know that emoneyfacts reports that the Yorkshire BS and Barnsley BS Christmas Savers are going to be withdrawn with effect from Saturday 30th January. See posts 7 and 934 if you need more details about these accounts.

    The HSBC Regular Saver can now be opened with an ordinary HSBC bank account requiring no monthly fee or monthly minimum pay in amount.
    Fix your interest rate for 12 months by applying for our Regular Saver Account, Bank Account and Graduate Bank Account customers can earn 4% AER/gross.
    From: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/savings/regular-saver

    The standard bank account details are here: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/bank-account-page and you might be able to get an additional £50 if you switch to them.
  • Could I ask how does a regular saver work out better than a high interest saving account for a period of 12 months?

    If I had £3600 pounds was I was thinking of putting it into the santander first home saver account which gives 5%.

    Interest earned approximately = £3600 * 0.5 * 0.05 = £90

    If I placed it in a coventry account with with 3.15% interest

    Interest earned approximately = £3600 * 0.0315 = £113.4
