I have opened a Monthly Savings and an E-Savings Reward, but have still not had any online banking details through. I phoned them up, and they said they'd send them to me (one code by post and another by email), but so far I've had neither.

Has anyone else had similar trouble registering for online banking with Barclays, and if so, how did you resolve it?
No, I had no trouble. Tell them they haven't come, someone obviously forgot to push a button after your phone call.

Thanks Biggles, I've tried in a branch and on the phone since then, and no one seems to know. They reckon that you can only have online banking if you have a current account, but have tried to send another passcode out. I will wait and see.

Rb10, I also previously had a Monthly Saver and an e-savings Reward account. The e-savings Reward allowed me to gain access to my Monthly Saver accoun online.

When I rang their online banking helpdesk, this was what I get to start online banking:

    a. Barclays Online Authorization Card (a chip-based card) + Barclay's Pinsentry device
    b. A PIN number for a. above
    c. Membership number - over the phone. Initially, the Customer Agent over the phone told me I will also receive a Membership number over the post. When I did not after some wait, I called up. Another agent told me it should be given to me by phone, and informed me of the number, allowing me immediate access after that!

I just got the PIN and the membership number, no PINSentry or any other device. I log in frequently with no problems (have done since May).

I log in with the 5 digit PIN (supplied by post) and my membership number, as Biggles says above. The only other thing you have to supply when you log in is your surname.

I was also expecting a customer number in the post which never arrived - this seems to be a common problem. The guy on the phone read it out to me though.

PINSentry card is needed if you start transferring between Barc and another bank.
I am trying to find a way of stopping using it each time I logon so if anyone knows, that would be helpful.

Natwest have similar system in place but you get option to choose how you logon (with or without a card reader).

There is an option normally when you make a payment to save the payment details (and hence do not need PINSentry for the future), if I recall correctly!

But, like rb10, I'm just interested in the Monthly Saver and only using the eSavings Reward for access, so no online payments involved.

True, but when your account matures in the future it will save you a trip to the high street! :)

I notice that the conditions of the Abbey Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver have changed.

There's no mention of opening a current account, they now say :-

"Eligibility – Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver is only available when you also open a regular investment, pension or protection plan."
