  • Go back to your crosswords - we are not amused! Some like myself were caught out by Leeds BS not being an easy account to extract your funds. So keep your clever remarks to yourself. Sometimes even the best people need a bit of support whatever forum. Meanwhile I ponder on how I extract my funds from Leeds BS.

Any account with a passbook suggests to me that it won't be easy to operate without visiting a branch.

In the case of Leeds BS, I managed to get a cheque sent by post. I decided to do this well before the account "matured", since I expected they would be busy with many requests at that point.

My Issue 3 still showing online and says "MATURITY INSTRUCTIONS LOGGED". Interest was credited 31/10/2017. Hopefully it will be into my linked bank account tomorrow.

What do you do with the old passbook, shred it?
If they are anything like Coventry BS you will get your money in your nominated account after 2pm tomorrow. There is still no sign of the easy access account so they should really still be paying the 2.30% rate.

It was on my current account yesterday afternoon (not morning). So check it should be applicable for everyone else having the same case.

Thanks, I had a passbook for Issue 3 but I got a text just after 2pm yesterday to say money was transferred to my bank.

    Not in my experience.

I think there's a bug with this forum. I keep clicking on a thread called Regular Savings Accounts: The Best Currently Available but I keep being direct to a thread with numerous posts discussing when people will receive money from a matured account which by definition is not currently available.

    Puzzled?
You appear to have missed the word "List" from Currently Available List - that list is in the first posts, credit to Special_Saver2. And it seems perfectly reasonable to be discussing accounts that have been in that list...

I am pretty sure Leeds BS supports Faster Payments if you have a bog-standard savings account with them which has a current account as a nominated account. They can transfer your matured RS into that bog standard account and you can take it from there.

Their bog standard account requires a minimum operating balance of £100 if memory serves me right but you can have less sitting in there (AER is 0.05%!!) and only need to have at least the £100 if you want to make a withdrawal. Not sure you can withdraw amounts that reduce your balance below £100 without closing the account.

    Has anyone tried this?

If you missed the 31 October deadline then you have to send written instructions or go to a branch.

I asked if I could set up an online account, transfer the money into that, then FP it elsewhere. The response was 'yes', but you have to request the transfer in writing, and there is a 'protective' block (I think of 28 days) on making withdrawals from newly opened online accounts. I couldn't find that in the T&C's but that was what the CSA said.

There is a separate thread on this, happy to go into more details over there.

With Leeds Building Society Issue 3, if you've missed the deadline, simply write to them. Request either a cheque, or movement of the funds to an account with LBS where it is possible to transfer out of. Sign the letter and then upload it to:

    info@leedsbuildingsociety.co.uk

I requested movement of funds in my LBS Issue 3 account to another account I have with them where transferring out is possible, and I can confirm that the funds were shifted when I looked earlier. It was an LBS customer service agent who told me to do this.

I wonder if the next Virgin RS will be "tweeked" due to the BoE rate increase....One can but hope!!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
