Ok..but that interest earned will still amount to about the same......
    It will?

My easy access savings are currently sitting in my Egg account at 6.3% (fixed until October) until the monthly payment is transferred to my HSBC Regular Saver at 8%.

If I did not have the Egg account, they would be sitting in something like my ICICI Bank HiSave account at 2.45% until being fed into the HSBC account.

Ok..but that interest earned will still amount to about the same and the 1yr fixed you can get as high as 4%+. I guess it depends on where it was beforehand and the numbers, i was thinking in my case its in my hsbc current account earning 0.1%!

I disagree. The best 1 year fix according to the main MSE article is 4.3% but remember that needs a balance in excess of 5k.

Most instant access savings accounts seem to be offering a 1 year bonus. Taking the Tesco one (2.5%) for example, and the Barclays RS, the overall rate would be:
    (6.5*0.06+5.5*0.025)/12= 4.4%.
    No contest.

    Hi Money Saving Experts,

    Here is this weekend's update.

Actually, I cannot find anything that has changed!

There are still no details online for certain accounts that were announced over the last 2 weeks (West Bromwich, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley accounts) but I shall check again next weekend.

    All the best,
    SS2

    Homebuyer Accounts

Abbey First Home Saver (Special Issue 1)

Special conditions: Only account per person. Need to be aged 16 to 35 and not own a home.

    Is that age qualifier legal?

On the date of my post it was 2.45%..... I don't think that the rate drop will significantly affect the £1.98 or so that I currently have in the account. ;)

    Hi Money Saving Experts,

I hope you are all enjoying this long weekend with nice weather.

Here is this weekend's update. Actually, nothing seems to have changed - none of the accounts on the first page of this thread have changed and there are no new accounts to add. There are still no details online for certain accounts but I can vouch that the Alliance & Leicester Premier Regular Saver does exist - I have seen an advertisement in the newspaper for it.

I shall do another update next weekend.
