The 7.75% is still 7.75% for people who opened during period 02/06/08-30/11/08:

Only those who opened after 1st Dec get 6%

    I opened 31/12/08 and got 7.75%.

    Hi Money Saving Experts,

There is only one account to update.

The Leeds BS Regular Saver has been withdrawn. For people who already have one of these accounts, please note that the interest rate has dropped slightly - down 0.05%, now paying 3.20%.

For new applicants, this account has been replaced with Regular Saver Issue 2. The interest rate is 3.05%. The terms and conditions are the same as issue 1 except that the maximum amount you can deposit per month is £500 (it is £1,000 with issue 1). The fixed interest bonus of 3% and one penalty-free withdrawal per year has not been changed.

I will do another update next weekend.

Hi SS2 - are you sure the 3% bonus is fixed? It doesn't say on the website that it is fixed, and it could be the reason they have started a new issue.

The 7.75% closed 31/12/08 and providing your first deposit was made and cleared by that date 7.75% would be payable.

From 01/01/09 it dropped to 6.00%.

I shall e-mail Leeds BS to clarify this. In the interim, I have amended my entry in post 2.

West Bromwich celebrated its 160th birthday with a new savings account, Birthday Bonus 160 account, launched 23.4. This is a regular saver account (not a 160 notice account, as it may appear at first glance)

It is a branch exclusive account which I discovered via a poster in my local branch - there are no details online

1% variable with conditional bonus of 5% after 12 months.

Save between £20 and £600 a month, can miss one payment and make one withdrawal during the 12 months

I have discussed this account with super saver 2 via a private message and this account has now been added to post 4

  • Hi Folks,

I have had a reply today to my e-mail to Leeds Building Society about their RegularSaver Issue 2 account.

The 3% bonus interest is variable.

They also confirmed that if you have an Issue 1 account then you can also hold an Issue 2 account at the same time.

I also see that this page from the Leeds BS website now says:
Notes: The minimum monthly payment is £20, the maximum monthly payment is £500. Variable 3.00% Bonus paid annually if all monthly payments are made with no more than one withdrawal.
I have a saved copy of that page from 20th April with the old RegularSaver (Issue 1) which says:
Notes: The minimum monthly payment is £20, the maximum monthly payment is £1,000. Fixed 3.00% Bonus paid annually if all monthly payments are made with no more than one withdrawal.
It is a shame that the 3% bonus interest is not fixed with this new issue. This change was not made clear on the main website page for this account so thanks to chris1 for questioning this. I have updated the entry in post 2 with this information.

    Hi Folks,

Here is the update for this weekend.

    - Chelsea Monthly Saver account has been withdrawn
    - Market Harborough BS Monthly Super Saver interest rate 2.95% (down 0.3%) from today

I will do another update next weekend.

P.S. For anybody who has the Leeds BS RegularSaver Issue 1 account (no longer available), I will mention that the interest rate dropped to 3.05% which matches the issue 2 account.
