My non-funded issue 6 was closed by them.
The T&C's say you can't have 6 if you already have 5. :(
Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?

The page on the Leeds website which advertises the Regular Saver 6 says this:

"Please note that you cannot open a Regular Saver (Issue 6) if you already have a Regular Saver (Issue 5)."

And the Product terms and Conditions pdf for the Regular Saver 6 has the following headline:

"Please note that you cannot open a Regular Saver (Issue 6) if you already have a Regular Saver (Issue 5)."

"cannot" is untrue - their stupid IT system is quite happy to let you open one.
Maybe they could change the T&C's to say "should not" and say they will be very cross if you do!!

Generally a lot better than too early
  • Branch Issue 5 is no longer shown on the Virgin website.

I noticed this last Wednesday (2nd August).

I was, however, still able to open this version at a branch on the 3rd August. I am not sure how long it will still be available.

Perhaps a new Issue one on the horizon?.

    I agree with you.

To be honest it all seems to be overly complicated and unattractive, considering you can only have one of one issue and it only runs for a year. The earlier regular savers - which they ruined by forcibly converting them into low rate instant access accounts once people had amassed sufficient balances to make them worth having - were a much better product.

The site says: "If you open an account on 1 August and deposit £250 in each subsequent month up to 31 July 2018, based on an interest rate of 2.30% you will receive a £37.35 interest payment, giving an overall account balance of £3,037.05." That's an exact quote - it isn't a typo on my part.

    For £37.35 I can't be bothered.

It doesn't show up in the "Previously offered" section of the website either so it may unofficially still be available. It's only been around for three weeks, the shortest of all the branch regular savers to date.

Branch Regular Saver 4 was on offer for 65 days, Branch Reg Saver 3 for 54, Branch Reg Saver 2 for 65 days and Branch Reg Saver 1 for 47.

    Re Leeds RS 6.

Yes I see it now "cannot have 5 and 6". My £250 is still sitting there happily.

Will they return and close ? Should I withdraw or hope they dont notice !?
