Presumably some people here have had M&S Monthly Savers maturing recently, as it became available just over a year ago. However, it appears that there are now extra conditions for eligibility for the account. You have to have two active direct debits and have switched using the switching service. Has anyone managed to open another account without meeting those requirements?

I thought that only applied to new current account holders from this month - not existing account holders. HSBC have no such requirement and nor do First Direct - which are more or less the same product albeit FD allow £300 a month rather than £250.

I have just opened a new monthly saver and was not asked to set up direct debits so agree with previous poster that requirement does not seem to apply to existing account holders.

Correct it only applies to new customers. We opened a new one a couple of weeks ago with only three grilling on the phone.

So the Chorley 18 month Sunshine account only has another two months to run.

Has anyone heard any rumours what might be replacing it?

At £750 per month for 18 months at a rate of 4.5% it really was a smashing product.

Does anyone know the maturity date of this account?

Is it 18 months from account opening or is there a specific date when all accounts reach maturity?

    Thanks in advance.

31/03/16 is in my spreadsheet and am pretty certain that's correct.
  • Hi Folks,

I have updated the Dudley BS One Year Regular Saver account with the issue 3 details.

I cannot find anything else that has changed for this weekend's update.

I will do another update next weekend.

Yes I agree with this date.

Going back to September/October 2014 this account was to be available only to a certain number of members. First come First served basis. When the tally was reached then the account would become a closed issue. Given that it was a good offer I reckon that all accounts were opened in October 2014 and all will mature at the same date 31-03-2016.

I did look at my paperwork but nothing is stated to that effect.

If other account holders do not agree then they can always contact the BS for clarification.
  • On my spreadsheet I have got the 1st April. This ties up with maturing on the 31st March and available next day for withdrawal. That was only my interpretation based on other banks/b socs making you wait a day.
  • No doubt everyone who has this account will receive this info, but they are changing the terms and conditions.

The requirement for having switched a bank account from another provider using their switching service and having 2 ACTIVE Direct debits will apply to existing customers from 6th April 2016.

It will not apply for existing accounts which are already open until they mature after that date.

    Luckily just renewed mine.
