How long does it take to open an HSBC Regular Saver? I applied on-line 6 days ago and the account still hasn't been opened...

Also a shame that the Nottingham one can only be opened in branch - the travel costs would probably outweigh the interest for me.

That's not normal. It shouldn't take more than 24 hours. I recommend you phone them.

I did and they said that they are very busy, apologised and said the account will be opened the next day however it was not, so I phoned again - same story. I gave up after the 3rd phone call when I got same explanation all over again. Eventually the account was opened - 10 days after I originally applied for it.

HSBC is a joke - just have a read through this topic about problems people are having with opening an account with them for the switching incentive...
  • Hi Folks,

I cannot find anything that has changed for this weekend's update.

I will do another update next weekend.

  • So the Chorley 18 month Sunshine account only has another two months to run.

Has anyone heard any rumours what might be replacing it?

At £750 per month for 18 months at a rate of 4.5% it really was a smashing product.

I'm not holding my breath for anything comparable, but it was good while it lasted

Doesn't look as if Chorley have realised the FSCS limit is now £75k:cool:

The Dudley BS One Year Regular Saver 2 paying 2.9% has been replaced with issue 3 paying 2.5% but the maximum monthly payment has increased from £250 to £400

Presumably some people here have had M&S Monthly Savers maturing recently, as it became available just over a year ago. However, it appears that there are now extra conditions for eligibility for the account. You have to have two active direct debits and have switched using the switching service. Has anyone managed to open another account without meeting those requirements?

Mine matured a week ago; I had to have the half-hour telephone grilling that now seems to be the norm with HSBC regular savers but there was no mention of two DDs being needed. I had used the switching service originally but that was a year ago and wasn't mentioned either.
