  • Hi everybody,

I have completed this weekend's update. Lots of things have changed.

Firstly, can anybody confirm that First Direct have withdrawn their 8% regular saver? It is still on their website.

The following interest rates have now dropped by 0.5%:
    - Scarborough BS My Savings
    - Yorkshire BS Regular Saver
    - Chorley Galloway
    - Chorley Santa Saver
    - Chelsea Monthly Extra
    - Britannia Home Saver
    - Coventry First

The Yorkshire BS Internet Saver (feeder account section) has only dropped by 0.2% (down to 5.50%).

The Bank of Ireland High Interest Regular Saver has dropped from 10% AER to 8% AER

The Newcastle 10% Regular Saver has disappeared (presumably because the guaranteed equity bond you need to buy to open this account has also disappeared).

I have also added back the Skipton Special Saver and the new Issue 3 Christmas Saver account. Although they only pay 6.55% from tomorrow, I think these accounts are pretty decent given that you can instantly close the accounts without penalty and can save a total of £1,000 per month. The interest rates will be updated on their website tomorrow but I know these details from http://www.moneyfacts.co.uk/savings/bestbuys/regular-savings-accounts.aspx
I am assuming that the Skipton Christmas Saver Issue 3 web page will be in the same location as the current Issue 2 page but I will check my link next weekend and correct it if necessary.

Apologies if I have made any mistakes - I am doing this in a real hurry, have to go very soon.

    Until next weekend...

I can't see it, only "Regular Saver ISA - 7.00% AER / tax free fixed for 12 months ...Start saving between £25 and £300 per month from your 1st Account"

Mine matured last week and no, they don't have an ongoing one - the only Regular Saver they have is the one you mentioned the 7% ISA.
  • Hi folks,

I am online looking for a nice fixed rate and thought I would answer the messages above.

This is the link for the First Direct regular saver

I tried clicking on apply and it is still working.

If you log in though you can only apply for these:

    Everyday e-Saver
    Regular Saver ISA
    cash e-ISA
    savings account
    mortgages
    personal loan
    first directory
    credit cards
    credit card limit
    text message banking
    formal overdraft
    insure
    1st Account
    investment funds
    bonus savings

Apologies if it's in that list and I've missed it :o

PS If you have a Coventry First account they're doing 6.25% fixed rate deposit for 14 months if that's the sort of account you're looking for. (not on topic for this thread though - sorry everyone)
    .
  • Okay, I have removed the First Direct account from the list. I have also corrected the link to the Skipton Christmas Saver and I have removed the "updated" tags from all the entries now that we have another interest rate change.

I will carry out a further update next weekend.

If you have more than £500 a month going into a HSBC current account you can ring 0800 130 130 and ask for the 8% fixed regular saver at up to £250 a month :)
  • Phew, managed to get the Barclays RS this morning - no hard sell, over and done in 10 minutes

Anyone know how I manage it? Do all enquiries about deposits have to done in branch?
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...

If you have a barclays bank account the regular saver will appear on the online banking otherwise you will have to go to a branch for statement, etc. When I opened mine up I opened up a bank account as well as I pefer to see it all online.

The Abbey Regular Saver is still available as well (7.25%) but thats in branch or over the phone only which seems daft in this day and age.
