RE: Flexclusive RS. I was told on the phone that interest would be calculated from today's date (i.e. the date I applied). Whether this applies to those who applied in-branch or online, I do not know.

Telephone is a quick and painless process with Nationwide when it comes to opening accounts seemingly. Certainly quicker than the internet, which is strange.

I just don't like the idea of expensive phone calls. May be I need to find myself some better tariffs, some that include calls to 0845 numbers. Been avoiding them for years.

Went into Barclays to open a monthly savings and they said it couldn't be done without a current account.
Had to settle for a Leeds BS 3.05%

    It's an 0800 number for new products. 0800 30 20 10. Didn't have to wait in-line either.

Can you remember which branch sent you the form?
    321 High Street

The guy who sent me the form obviously wasn't aware of a change of procedure.

A current account, or a Barclays current account? The former I can sort of understand (as term 2.2c says "all deposits other than the initial deposit by standing order from an account with us or another bank") although in reality all that they actually need is for you to be able to give them details for the standing order form of ANY account that can make standing order payments (e.g. YBS Cash Transactor).

But that term also strongly implies that you don't have to have a Barclays current account to apply.
