I've just used 0800302010 to clarify whether both husband & I can apply in sole names.
That number told me that I couldn't if the Flex Account is in joint names. The T&Cs say One per Customer. The online process gives no choice. Specifically it says the account will be opened in the name(s) of the FlexAcount holder.
The branch thought I could do one each but said they were guessing and it would soon be rejected if it was not acceptable! I hate uncertainty so did in in joint names on the phone.0 -

Thanks for that. It does seem to have been launched with little or no notice to staff, in view of the conflicting information being given out. I'll report back with response to my secure message - assuming I get one0 -

Confused over this new Nationwide 6% regular saving account launched today.
My partner & I have a joint Flexaccount. His salary is paid into it & I am a homemaker. Because I completed the form originally I am the first name account holder. However to open this new account it says contradictory statements.- "If a joint application is made only one account holder must meet the main FlexAccount customer eligibility criteria."
- Then further down the page "Only the first named account holder must meet the Nationwide main FlexAccount customer eligibility criteria. "
They are not contradictory at all - if you have a joint Regular Savings account, then provided that the first person named on the Regular Saver meets the Flexaccount criteria, then it'll be all ok. It just needs this one person to meet the criteria, not both of you.
However, you might as well each open a single account - as you both meet the Flexaccount requirements.0 -

I beg to differ- the T&C say
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/savings/instant_access/flexclusiveregularsaver/apply.htm
which, I understand to mean that if you have a joint Flexacccount, then you can have only a joint Flexclusive Regular Saver @ 6%
The contradictions are between this and what I (and others?) have been told by Nationwide staff.0 -

Thank you for your posting but if you read carefully you will notice that I point out that I am the 1st named person & I am a homemaker. ie I have no income. So when it says "only one account holder must meet the main FlexAccount customer eligibility criteria." That could be me or my partner, but when it says "Only the first named account holder must meet the Nationwide main FlexAccount customer eligibility criteria." That means me only so by that I can't open one. However, you might as well each open a single account - as you both meet the Flexaccount requirements.
I was also under the impression that only one account holder can apply when there is a joint account.
However, I followed what it says in the T&Cs which says only one, which could mean me, and applied on-line.0 -
I have just applied for the new Nationwide Regular Saver online.
I was not asked to log in, but the form was pretty painless.
Will wait and see what happens now.0 -

Thanks. Just a warning for others. Don't send to the main office, they will reject and pass your application to Indian call centre to deal with, in case you want some other accounts from them!0 -
Hi Everybody,
I have added the Nationwide Flexclusive Regular Saver to post 3 (as it lasts more than 12 months). There is nothing else that I can find to change. I will do another update next weekend.

Just so you know:
Set one up by phone.
Money taken immediatly.
I did the same yesterday evening, but the account has not been opened yet and the money has not been taken yet. I did receive an e-mail though stating that my account would be opened within three days and the customer services representative did assure me that interest would be calculated from yesterday. I'm not sure how true that is and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.0
