Is it Branch-only or full online set-up and management??0 -
Looks like you might have to risk turning into a pumpkin to find out:pPUMPKINS IN STAMPEDE ON BUILDING SOCIETY
London, 10 August 2010
In an unpredented move, vast numbers of well-informed pumpkins got squashed last night in their attempt to be the first to sign up to Nationwide's first ever decent regular savings account. We were unable to get any sense out of any of the pumpkins. Nobody from Nationwide was available for comment but usually well-informed sources hinted at the possibility of an announcement on nationwide.co.uk in the morning. It is currently unclear who will deal with the squashed pumpkins.0 -

Seems you can apply online.
Yes, there is indeed an online form, which I have filled in, and I am now waiting for the account to be set up.
The whole thing seems to have been thrown together quite hastily, e.g.- to apply, even if you are logged into your Nationwide online banking, you have to enter your name, DOB, address, account number of Flexaccount, email address
. - at the end of the form processing, you get a message saying they will either set up the Reg Saver or contact you for further details within 5 days. Will report back when I hear further.
. - the T&Cs for the Flexclusive Reg Save are a bit odd, e.g.
- it says "Interest is calculated daily and paid annually on 31st December each year into the account or Nationwide current account or savings account (excluding Regular Savings)". Hello? This is a Regular Savings account?? And where exactly will they pay my interest into?
. - it further says "You can withdraw any available funds without notice or loss of interest. ". Highly unusual for a Reg Saver.

Just so...........
Confused over this new Nationwide 6% regular saving account launched today.
My partner & I have a joint Flexaccount. His salary is paid into it & I am a homemaker. Because I completed the form originally I am the first name account holder. However to open this new account it says contradictory statements.- "If a joint application is made only one account holder must meet the main FlexAccount customer eligibility criteria."
- Then further down the page "Only the first named account holder must meet the Nationwide main FlexAccount customer eligibility criteria. "

Just to point out: there is no 'term' on this one (just a fixed rate period to 31/10/13) So there are 15 paying-in months. Remember interest will be credited 31st Dec 2012 and 31st Dec 2013 (unless you opt to close 31/10/13 I suppose*)
(I'll let some else work out the interest for a change.)
*PS Remember to keep the Flexaccount running with £750 per month put through for the whole of this period to avoid them closing the account early......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -

Best perhaps to call them, or pop into a Branch?0
