    Hi Everybody,

Here is this weekend's update. Thanks to the forum members who pointed these out earlier this week.

    - Monmouthshire 4% Flexible Saver withdrawn
    - Cheshire and Derbyshire Platinum Monthly Savers changed from issue 3 to issue 4 resulting in new accounts having a bonus that runs until 31st July 2013

In response to KTHO's enquiry above, there are plenty of us (myself included) that have plenty of regular saver accounts open. Go have a look at post 18 on the first page of this thread as an example. (You cannot get the same interest rates nowadays; that post is from 2007 when interest rates generally were higher.)

I will do another update next weekend.

    Hi Folks,

I cannot find anything that has changed for this weekend's update. I will not be able to do an update for the next one or two weekends but I will do so at the next available opportunity afterwards.

If I was cynical I'd say it seems like the Halifax wants to make it difficult to open one of these accounts... As it no longer remains open after the anniversary, and it isn't available to open over the phone, I went down to my branch to open one, but was advised that I needed to prebook an hour long appointment to open one. As I didn't have my diary with me, I went home and rang up to make the appointment, only to be to told that the next avaialble appointment is on 5th of July - in 10 days time! I then tried the other local branch, and their next free slot was 7th of July... An awful lot of hassle for 40 quids worth of interest...!
I don't think I can hang on til Friday...

I am not aware of any regular savings accounts (this thread is about Regular Savings!) or easy access accounts that guarantee a fixed rate or fixed bonus for much more than a year.

You may wish to consider YBS's Internet Saver account that comes with optional Link card. It pays a variable rate of 2.1% but that has not changed since 29 March 2009 and there would be nothing to stop you making regular bank transfers into it.

In case anyone was curious, having tried to take out a new HSBC regular saver after the last one matured, a student account is definitely not a qualifying account although weirdly the graduate one is. Not sure if I want to have the saver or the student account....

I'm looking for a regular saver to replace one that has matured. I've spotted the West Bromwich Building Society at 4.1%. Anyone have any experience with these people?
