The First Direct Regular Saver has been available - almost - since the year dot. Not likely it will be withdrawn between now and the end of the month - - but hey, who knows.0

Another question: can you apply for the 1st direct regular saver more than once, as long as the product is still available? In consecutive years I mean, not simultaneously.0 -

The 8% rate has been available for over 18 months.
Yes, you can start a new one when the old has finished - I did just this a few months ago.

For anyone who opened a West Brom 4.1% job roundabout this time last year. I was "reviewing my portfolio" yesterday and in the glossy it said that they aimed to notify savers 14 days prior to maturity to discuss future options. I now fall into this category but have not received any info to date although I suppose that this could be due to the vaguaries of the postal system. I popped into a branch and discovered that the future options are in my opinion somewhat meagre.
When the regsave matures, it is transferred into a branch instant access account paying 0.5%, (gross in both terms of the word).
This is intended for any other peeps who, like myself, may have the occasional "senior moment" and have a tendancy to forget things.0 -
Mine is going into a Lloyds TSB Vantage account on the 20th June at 3% Also wont be taking another one this year as now have a First Direct (8%) and HSBC (6%) regular saver on the go.
But yes I was expecting them to write to me too.0 -
hi guys, just a quick question, can you have more than one first direct account, i regulary save around 600 per month, and i know these accounts have roughtly a 300 monthly limit on them.
Also, is there a best time of the month to open the account or does in not rly matter?
Thanks for your help - never had a regular saving account before.0 -
You can only have one at a time. It doesn't matter which day of the month you start it. It matures exactly 1 year later and you can continue afterwards, provided the same rate is still available. Ive just done it.0

If you get paid a certain day each month, it would be natural to make the deposits just afterwards.0

Mine matured on 25th May, so bright and early on the 26th went and withdrew the lot, only to find on getting home a letter from them stating the interest earned and maturity options.
Regreted my haste as I would have continued to get the 4.1% till 14th June.:mad:
So being quick is not always the best option.
Hope everyone with a Chorley Summertime saver has remembered to send off their passbooks as it matured yesterday. Still paying 4%. This is a closed issue, but continues for everyone who already has one,0
