I must once again thank Milarky for spotting that Monmouthshire BS account. It was a great find! I have managed to successfully fill the account using a Faster Payment and I verified that the transfer had been received successfully using their online system (which is pretty good considering this is a passbook account). For anybody else in the same situation, I should warn you that their online system only updates once per day so you might have to wait until the next day to see your deposit appear in your Monmouthshire account.

I opened my Monmouthshire account and was concerned that they didn't accept Faster Payments. I transferred money in on Monday and it showed as a faster payment going out of my bank at 0900. On the Tuesday afternoon I checked online with Monmouthshire and it wasn't appearing. I rang them up and they confirmed it was received Monday morning but not applied to my account until Tuesday, I was told that as the system updates overnight it would not appear on my account until Wednesday.
There was no point taking this up with the girl on the phone as this has got be sharp practice.
Will be interesting to see how they treat transfers out.0 -

It's because their online system is not directly linked to the "live" system. Transactions in will have the correct date when they show up - at least mine have. I haven't tried a transfer out yet.
Also, Monmouthshire are not a bank - the faster payments go to HSBC first.Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?0 -
arsenalboy, I think ctdctd and I were a bit luckier than you. My Faster Payment was sent on Monday morning and then on Tuesday it showed up as being received on Monday.

I am not sure if this applies to huw but a few people recently have not realised that the first page of this thread contains most of the information. I have just added the words "(see page 1)" to the name of this thread in the hope that this helps the situation.
It just shows:
"Regular Savings Accounts: The Best Currently Available List!..."
Why not go for something like this instead?
"Regular Savings Accounts: (@ page 1) The Best Currently Availabl....".....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Hi Milarky,
I now realise that my earlier actions only changed the title of the first post! I cannot change the title of the thread any more. I have clicked on the first post and then "go advanced" but it will not let me change the title of the thread. Apparently, one of the quirks of this forum is that sometimes you cannot change the thread title, especially if the thread is quite old.

Hi Everybody,
I cannot find anything that has changed for the first page of this thread in the last week.
I will do another update either next weekend or the weekend after.

Finally got my act together and contacted West Brom re their Christmas Regular Saver. Contrary to what it said on their website, (now removed), if you opened one of these in December, it is permissable to make 13 monthly payments and deposit £3250.0

The Swansea Building Society offers a Regular Saver Account with a minimum monthly subscription of £25.00 and a maximum of £500.00. Pays 4.00%, but you have to live in Wales to get this rate.

This is interesting when you read the info from the Swansea from the above link. The £25/£500 limits only apply if you live in Wales. If you live outside you will be required to invest a minimum of £5000 to stay there until account closure. I read this as an immediate investment of £5000 followed by monthly regular payments so that the balance doesn't exceed £6000 in the year. This means you can fix £5000 straight away at 4%.
This appears to be some emerging trend from Wales what with the Monmouthshire 12k/24k.:)0 -

I'm afraid you are incorrect. I've just phoned them and the 5K has to go into the Premier Account with an interest rate of 1%0
