    it looks like West Brom BS have opened up both the child and adult regular savings accounts to postal applications.
    Emoneyfacts said they had launched an online one as well, not that I can find any mention of it on WBBS's website.

    Did you really mean to put loose?
    Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
    Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

    I think you have to apply by post or in branch, there is an application form you can download to send in.

    If I have a limited amount of money to save and therefore have to choose either of this (not both), I will certainly choose Northern Rock as it is much more flexible and I could withdraw money at any time.

    I just finished calculating the difference of 4.1% with WB and 4.0% with NR for 250 monthly installment of 1 year period and basic tax rate.

    The difference is just £53.04 vs £51.75.

    I do not want to loose flexibility for just £1.29 difference

    I opened mine up in the West Brom branch the other day when I saw the offer, along with another 4% account at Northern Rock. :-)

    Progressive BS

    Santander First Home Saver will be withdrawn from sale tomorrow - bad news for savvy younger savers everywhere.

    The Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver and Fixed Rate Monthly Saver at 6% and 4% respectively, will also be scrapped and replaced with a new Loyalty Fixed Rate Monthly Saver, paying 5%, which is restricted to switching customers and those who hold their main bank account with Santander (funded with £1k per month for the last 3 months, and with at least 2 active DDs/ SOs.

    Actually there is a West Brom branch near to where I live so this is more convenient. I terms of flexibility, I don't plan on touching this money anyway. It all goes by Standing Order to NR and WB from my reward account with the Halifax after the grand a month is transfered into it :D

    Thanks ses6jwg, any idea on what they are planning on doing with the existing First Home Saver accounts?
    The trouble is that because it is a variable interest account, Santander could bring the interest down to force people to move the money away.

    I have just applied (freephone) and the account was opened in about 15 minutes. It appears to operate in exactly the same way as the Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver (just ended) did. Remember also to set SO dates to be between 2nd-21st of each month

    @johnmoney05 - that's correct - confirmed by the call handler - first deposit in August - 13 payments - matures 01 September 2012
