Regular Savings Accounts: The Best Currently Available List!

Hi Everybody,
I can only find one thing that has changed this week. Newcastle BS has launched a children's regular savings account called Big Little Saver. It pays 3% AER on up to £250 per month. If you are interested in opening this account then make sure you read the terms and conditions carefully as the definition of an account month is a little complicated.
I have thought about it and I have decided to now include children's regular savings accounts on the list on page 1. The Newcastle BS account just misses out on making the list as it does not beat the third best no strings savings account on Martin's Savings page at the moment.
As I am now including children's regular savers in the list, I have added the Halifax 6% account and the Principality BS Dylan Regular Saver Bond Issue 3 paying 4.5% to post 4 (matures after 12 months). The West Bromwich BS 4.6% children's account is in post 4 too and the Saffron BS 4% account in post 4 is open to children as well as adults.
I have amended the introduction in post 1 so that it includes the following sentence, "I have included children's regular savers but I would strongly recommend that you read the section about tax implications for interest from children's accounts in Martin's article Best Child Savings."
I will do another update next weekend.

I can confirm that the West Brom regular savers (launched 23rd May) are branch based only.
Rang them up and double checked - cannot be operated by post.
They seem to be now saying that you can apply by post at

Although seems to be very messy to provide ID.
On the downloadable pdf postal application form for the adult version but not the children version (accessible via that first link) you can tick a box to say you want to operate it by postI came, I saw, I melted0 -
According to eMoneyfacts there is a new 'online' version paying the same rates and limits. But nothing new has appeared on West Brom's pages. IT could be they have crossed wires and there is NO second version of the accounts - just online application? These two new regular savings accounts from West Brom BS complement the branch options launched last month and open up these competitive rates to internet investors. They pay amongst the market leading rates for both adults and children looking to save on a regular basis. Paying 4.10% and 4.60% respectively, these high rates are achieved providing the terms and conditions are met.

Yes - the West Brom has added postal applications now.
Wonder if this is because not enough people were opening them - or because of the waste of time for branch staff. I made an appointment to open one and they allowed half an hour. Took all of 5 minutes - resisted the temptation to let them sell me anything else. :whistle:0 -
Just had a phone call from my local Northern Rock Branch.
They are offering another Regular Saver (Issue 4) with the same terms, conditions and interest rate as the last one.

Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -

I'm already going into Manchester tomorrow morning, so I thought it would be convenient to pop into the branch at the same time.
I'd rather spend 10 minutes in a branch and have it all set up with the money deposited and passbook issued.0 -

Do not forget. If you have a newly open Santander PICR or Santander Zero you could also open Super Fixed Rate Monthly saver which earn 6% interest.
Here you gain from PICR or Zero Account which is instant access and earn 5% and from saving account which earn top interest rate 6%.
You will be able two open up to two Santander Zero, so you will be to get two super fixed rate monthly saver
+ Probably (have not tried it yet) 1 PICR
