  • Hi, just got the interest from Chorley BS Santa Saver I. It does not look right to me. I deposited £150 first of each month. From 1 Dec to 25 Nov total £1800. Now got the interest of £24.65 basic tax rate. Just wondering how much inerest you all got? Before I make enquiry to Chorley. Thanks.

    25/11/2010 1,830.81 =£1,800 plus £24.65 grossed up

    XIRR = 3.272%

Was the interest supposed to be 3.25% gross?
  • Chorley Santa saver issue 1 is paying 5% gross so your interest at £24.65 does not look correct.

    Andidas,
It is included in the post when multiple accounts of the same issue can be held, none are mentioned at the moment as none are currently available.

Yes, I lodged an enquiry now. Now, just waiting what their explanation will be. The lady on the phone said, it was daily rate...bhala, bhala....I told her, according to my calculation it was around 3% little more. Never think the interest will be wrong by their system. To be honest, I don't normally check if the interest is not so out of my expectation. Thanks guys. So anyone has the same problem?

Just took a look the transactions. I think they forgot to add the interest from the "old" account to the "new" account. But only transfer the balance from the "old" account to the "new" account in July.

  • Hi Everybody,

Adindas, as Careful_ly said, I will point out in my summary if it is possible to open more than one account. I have now added the following line to my introduction in post 1, "Unless indicated otherwise, you can only open one of each account."

There are two accounts to add for this weekend's update:

    - Teachers BS Charity Saver - 3.5% (plus 0.25% is paid to charity) on up to £500 per month for 12 months (and then the interest rate drops so this account has been put in post 4)

    - Saffron BS Christmas Saver - pays the equivalent of 14.5% on 11 monthly payments of £50 each but you have to take the balance in shopping vouchers. See my summary in post 7 and see this thread

I will do another update next weekend.

  • This post says that LLoyds regular saver is about to drop to 2% :
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=39218294&postcount=5

Oh, and Skipton are also about to withdraw their 5% one.
  • Hi Folks,

I have updated the first page of this thread with the following information:

    - Marsden BS Christmas Saver (Issue 3) launched paying 3.25% on up to £250 per month, matures 30th November 2011 (added to post 7)

    - Saffron BS Christmas Regular Saver has been withdrawn

    - Skipton BS Regular Saver has been withdrawn

    - Cambridge BS Regular Savings account (already in post 4, pays 3.05% including a fixed 3% bonus on up to £250 per month for 12 months) is available to anybody now (not just locals)

I have also gone through every account on the first page and added a line about the age requirements.

I will do another update next weekend.

    N&P have 5 different RSA e.g.
    with 5% APR:
    - E-Family Regular saver
    - Family Regular saver
    -Gold Savings Account

    with 4%APR
    - E-Regular saver
    - Regular saver

I just got phone confimration that you could have all of this at the same time.

so you coud put £750 erning 5% and £500 earning 4%.
