Abbey International Offshore Monthly Offshore Saver

Have anybody tried ? How do they work actually ?
Could we do it while we are UK residence ?.
Do we have to pay salary into the current a/c ?

    Thank you for your time

It's tempting isn't it. BUT they say "ALL DEPOSITS CARRY THE FULL AND UNCONDITIONAL GUARANTEE OF SANTANDER UK PLC"

and that's a nice way of saying that these accounts are not protected by Financial Services Compensation Scheme!

You can't - in branch or by post only.

    HTH

I only asked because it was stated:

"Accounts must be opened at a branch or through Skipton Direct"

I wondered if Skipton Direct was connected to a website.

No, they just administer accounts by post.

The Abbey International Offer is not tempting at all because you have to keep a minimum of £5,000 in a non interest-paying current account in order to qualify for the 10% regular saver.

I was in the Principalty in Cardiff today - they have launched a 5% regular savings account - it's branch only - min £20 max £500 per month.

I was told that it will only be available for 2 weeks.

Seems to be moving backwards in time as well, judging by the Llandudno dates:
    Llandudno Branch: 20/12/2010 - 08/01/2010
  • Hi Folks,

I have seen on the Skipton thread that you can open one of their new Regular Saver accounts in addition to any old Special Saver accounts that you may still hold.

I cannot find anything else to add, remove or change.

I will do another update next weekend.

Hi, just got the interest from Chorley BS Santa Saver I. It does not look right to me. I deposited £150 first of each month. From 1 Dec to 25 Nov total £1800. Now got the interest of £24.65 basic tax rate (it was only £21.92 net when looked closer!). Just wondering how much inerest you all got? Before I make enquiry to Chorley. Thanks.

    Dear Special_Saver2
Thank you for keeping this thread alive providing us with up to date information about RSA. I know it is a voluntarily work.

One of the features that I believe about RSA is whether they allow people to open multiple a/c or not.

    For instance
    - I have £1000 a monthly to save, it is less hassle if I just put it into 2X£500 multiple a/c in one bank/BS. or alternatively
    - If the limit is £250.00 I would rather put t 4x£250 multiple a/c in one bank/BS.

    Advantage:
    -Less Hassle
    - Easy to see/control. If it not available on line, manage by post then you could see the current balance in one go e.g. send it by post 4 Pass Book in one go.

    This is just a suggestion.
