I am surprised they have let you open more than 1 Gold Regular Saver in the past.
I must admit I got a bit confused about their regular saver products as they don't use issue numbers.

I have just checked my history of N&P regular savers: 3 Gold, 1 Regular Saver, 1 ERegular Saver.

Had I not returned my last Regular Saver passbook for closure together with my Regular Saver application, I bet you the application would not have been rejected.

  • Hi Folks,

I have updated the first page of this thread. There is only one thing that I can find to change - I have updated the entry on the Norwich & Peterborough BS Gold Savings account. I have amended the point below (the minimum monthly deposit to the Gold current account is now £500, previously £1,000) plus I have removed the information in that entry about tiered interest on the current account (as it now pays zero interest on all balances).

I will do another update next weekend.

    All the best,
    SS2

    Hi Folks,

I happened to be on the forum tonight and saw Milarky's post above. I have retrieved the entry on the Teachers BS Regular Saver account (issue 1) from my little archive (this account used to be on the first page of this thread before the interest rate dropped). I have placed the entry in post 4 with a note to say that I will amend anything that has changed once Teachers BS have updated their website. I have put in the entry that there are no penalties for missing a monthly deposit (which it says in the emoneyfacts article). The issue 1 terms and conditions on the Teachers BS website are vague on this particular aspect.

    Hi Everybody,

I only have one thing to add for this weekend's update. The Furness BS Monthly Saver has been withdrawn.

I cannot get the Teachers BS Regular Saver page to load at the moment (the rest of their website seems fine) but I shall try again later and update the entry for their regular saver if there are any changes.

I will do another update next weekend.

    All the best,
    SS2

Edit: That Teachers BS Regular Saver account page is loading up fine now. The details on the first page of this thread were fine. The issue of missing monthly payments is still ambiguous. I have put the following in my entry on page 1:

Miss any payments: Unclear - no stated penalty for missing a monthly payment

I already have Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver (Issue 9) which pay 6% Interest ?

I am aware that quite often they allow people to open another RSA as long as it is a different issue and this is not tagged as multiple account.

I have seen Santander Fixed Rate Monthly Saver (Issue 12) is available. Could I still open this Fixed Rate Monthly Saver (Issue 12), given that I already have RSA issue 9 ?

I now I could call but you Santander Telephone Customer Services is quite often not very useful as you will get different answers from different people.

    Thank you for your time

  • I was able to open one Santander Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver (Issue 9) and four Santander Fixed Rate Monthly Savers (Issue 12) all in one phone call. No problems. They were very helpful.

Thanks a million this is break through, you do not need to waste time calling many different BS to open 4 RSA which pay 4% APR.

I will do that tomorrow then.

I just have a look on Santander, it does not say that you allowed to open multiple a/c. From their previous RSA version, as far as I am aware thy did not allow you to open multiple a/c ?.

When you said you open 4 at the same was that under single name ?

  • I opened all five accounts in joint names on the same day. I was given the sort codes and account numbers and if my memory is correct they all showed up online by the end of the conversation. But I may have been lucky in speaking to a very helpful operator. I did call again a few days later in an attempt to open some more but was unsuccessful.

I just made a call to Santander, it seems they are not sure if we can have multiple accounts, but after was asked on hold, was told only one. Probably different advisor will have different advice.
