So I have to use their switching service? I currently use pay all my bills using my Barclays Student Account, I don't really want to transfer over any of my DD. I also have a Halifax Current Account, but I don't have any direct debits set up on it. Do they require DD to be transferred also?

    yes at least 1
  • How long would I have to keep the DD active for with that account?

Could I use the Transfer Service so they switch my Current Account from Halifax to Santander then transfer one of the DD from Barclays to Santander myself. Or would I have to transfer the DD to my Halifax Account first and then use the transfer service to Santander?

    Thanks.

Edit: I close my Santander Account about 1 month ago, can I still get the 6%.

Also is there any other requirements, such as paying in a specific amount into your Current Account?

Really sorry about all the questions, I just don't want to make any mistakes, I've mismanaged my money before and I'm determined not to again.

    Thanks.

Are you sure you want to get involved with Santander?! We are about to (try) to close all our accounts with them.
  • Yeah, I'm a very patient man, there's a branch just down the road, when I did have an account with them they were helpful. Does anyone have any answers to my questions in post 1135?

    Thanks.

Must not have held a current account with us within past 3 months.

Must transfer at least 1 DD and pay in 1,000 per month
  • Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

Well spotted. I'm tempted to open multiple accounts. I'll initially open one and then try and open severla others.

My passbook arrived this week. I have just rung them and you can opn up to 6 of these accounts at any one time!!! Each can have an initial deposit of £1000 plus £250 per month.

    Cue the stampede...
