Would your mum eat a cold soup for lunch like gazpacho?  I would worry about her microwaving & then getting burnt, it is so easily done.

zero chance of that! Had to talk her into an egg sandwich today!

How about a wide mouthed food flask to keep soup warm rather than scalding?  Could your Ma unscrew a lid if it wasn't too tight?
  • You guys are all so kind to come up with ideas. Thank you.

I have come to conclusion tho she is very negative about any of my suggestions, so I will pass them on to my sisters, she listens to them.

Today I will confess to allowing her negative attitude to get to me. Did not get anywhere with anything. Well ok, I  deep cleaned the kitchen, did some washing and hoovered upstairs. And I did another short exercise video and walked the dogs. We didn't see anyone so that was good.

Need to do evening chores and sort the recycling. Yawn.

For when you’re back at work, what about those meal delivery services for her lunch?  Meals on wheels type things?

My sister suggested them, she had a leaflet about one that did sandwiches and light meals but she didn't want it. She gets really anxious about people coming to the house. Like for example today the food delivery, Sainsbury's. When she came downstairs she was surprised I had eaten breakfast, she never did when she did the delivery - it came at 11 and she would wait till after they had been and put it all a way then eat, she would be starving and grumpy but she wouldn't eat. Any appointments etc she won't eat before hand. The more involved I am with all the cooking and prep for her the more I realise exactly how little she enjoys food and how much eating worries her - aside from dinner, she doesn't stress about that. But day time eating ugh!

  • Right today is meant to be nice weather and I am going outside. I really let Mum get to me the last few days and I have decided that focussing on her too much makes me see all the negatives. So time outside in the garden away from the house is the way forward.

Plus I can get going on my decluttering from the shed/garden/other shed...........

It was a good plan. I cut all the grass. I am really chuffed with myself as Mum said it would be too hard and even the gardener - when he came only did half and thought it was tough. It did started raining so he didn't get the chance. So one side hadn't been cut in over a month and the other not since May.  Took about 5 hours with weeding allowing for the mower to cool down. I know it doesn't sound like much but it is a huge sodding garden!

It is now set to rain for a week so it will be indoor stuff now. I actually felt like all my crazy plans could happen today. XX

  • Just read about an idea to use decking boards as lawn edging - stood up, I want to widen the flower beds..... and make one or two curves, so will need the log roll edging stuff too.

    Shall go to bed now.
