I second the rude picture idea, in fact now I think you should just use the painting as an excuse to stay in there with a book for a few hours, and cover the ceiling with a poster of whoever takes your fancy

I'm glad your sister asked about dementia because as I have said before I think some of her behaviour indicates that.
If you are going to continue then you need to find a way of dealing with it.  Yes I know, easier said than done.  You have to become the parent, one of the hardest things about being a parent's carer.  If you don't YOU will break & it will be even worse for your mother than it is now.  You need to find something that gets you through the day & restores your optimism.  As supportive as everyone on here is & wants to be, we cannot truly fix it for you much as we might want to.
I was going to say more about other things but I'll save them for another day.  And at some point I will give you a laugh by telling you one of my mother's more interesting symptoms of dementia!

Might be worth going on a dementia awareness course. I did one via work, not that I have anyone with dementia, but still worthwhile.

I am searching for one to do(find something called future learn), it will be useful to do, I don't think Mum has dementia, but I suppose depressingly it may be useful to do. She has been good today, I know I keep saying it, but the steroids! crikey. minimal pain, almost cheerful!
After a vile migraine and ending up doing stuff for everyone else yesterday (!) today turned out a 100 times better. I got up, I hoovered the whole house. I honestly think Shark hoovers are rip off. I grant you house bunny = hay and not many hoovers can take it and Shark let me down - fine it needs unblocking but it is all twisty and difficult to unblock. I had to use my other hoover to suck the blockage out, it was pretty gross but satisfying.
After that I spent most of the day in the garden, moving things, weeding, sweeping, sorting recycling, rubbish, moving the EIGHT empty plastic boxes from the conservatory(as in the ones left from all the stuff I got rid of!) . I semi planned the garden and what I will plant. To anyone looking it doesn't look like much but I am really pleased.
And then I cooked an amazing dinner courtesy of Hello Fresh again.
The house is still a state but it is a much better then it was and looking today I can honestly see a way through. I really am getting closer!
