That's an interesting womble :) If you don't know what to do with foreign money: there are some charities that accept foreign coins and have a deal with a bank to exchange them free-fo-charge for their good work.

Don't worry - I have a plan for those...  Here in London we have foreign exchange machines run by a company called Fourex in many major rail stations, motorway services and shopping centres which will take coins and return sterling, euro or dollars.  It's a high commission (9%) but for wombled roadkill it's a bargain.   Especially when I walked past the one nearest me on Saturday afternoon, checked the return tray and picked up....   wait for it..... €3.51!     Larger Euro coins (€2, €1 and 50 cent) sit in a pile on a bookshelf waiting for holidays [also US quarters] and anything smaller gets changed once a quarter for more usable money.
I need to think of something new here...

    Excellent!

We dropped our daughters off at my parents' for Spring Break, and I did a quick supermarket shop for items I cannot buy (or are more expensive to buy) in Belgium. My father went along for their own shopping, and decided to pay for my things as well! €35.

Husband and I went to the dentist, and came away with 2 trial tubes of specialist toothpaste each, €4.

On the way to the supermarket yesterday I collected an abandoned trolley and returned it - and got the pound back.    Feeling reckless, I bought a scratchcard....

    ...  and won....

    a pound.

  • 10p in the change drawer of a Tesco self-service till a couple of days ago.
£1.03 found in loose change on the floor whilst walking around yesterday.
Couple of £ cashback after finding a supermarket receipt.

Picked up a Costa gift card at the station yesterday - SouthEastern give them as apologies for major delays. So £3 to spend (well 30p to spend as I've already had a latte)
Today I went to spend that 30p and the till insisted there was still £3 on the card.  So I've had a second free coffee!  Plus I've either got 45p left to spend on the next one - or maybe I've got a magic card that never runs out!

Last night's Coinstar collection - 20p, €0.51 and 1 Jamaican dollar.  Which is about the size of a 5p so I didn't expect it to be worth much - it's not...   0.57p (0.66 of a eurocent) according to xe.com     Size can be misleading though - a Swiss 1/2 franc is about the same size and weight and they are worth about 41p (47 eurocents).
