Not a goal as such... Usable UK currency goes into a money box which is then emptied to provide ice-cream money and 2p for the arcades if we go to the seaside. Foreign currency gets sorted: Half-Euros and above plus US quarters and dimes go into a pile on the bookshelf to be used for future holidays; the rest into a general jumble which gets converted to UK once a quarter and added to the seaside pile. As m'wife is heading to New York in the spring - the general jumble might get converted to dollars instead this time round.

  • YAY 10p found on the classroom floor today - small pickings but feeling good :)
  • Cleaned the house and found 97 pence laying around for no-one to claim. So I'm claiming that as roadkill.

Going out for a sit down 3 course meal which was a xmas present for DOH and myself so really looking forward to that.
  • 2 pence roadkill on the classroom floor again today. - 2p

3 glasses of bucks fizz at our meal yesterday - nominal 1 each for these £3

    2 salted caramel matchstick chocolates - 5 p
1 mini chocolate bar and a sweet and 1 quality street - 5p
small amount of sour cream - 10p

My wombling is erratic, I post about once a week.

Wombles from the weekend: 1 mandarin (free for a child accompanying a shopping adult at the sm), 1 non-alcoholic beer (handed out when leaving the Brussels' car fair gala opening night). €1.

The gala night invite and small party was a gift (worth about €50 for the 2 of us), but as we had to spend the same amount on clothes and babysitter, I'm not counting it.

That explains the euro... I was assuming you were in Ireland.

A hit on the Coinstar on Sunday - £1.04 (mostly in silver) and 1 Swedish Krone (that's just over 8p or 9 1/2 cents)

I love the UK! I tried moving to you guys in October 2007, but the recession had already started to hit, and people (at least in London) were getting laid off per hundred, so there wasn't a chance for me to find a beginner position as a translator/interpreter, with all these qualified people around desperate for any job. Too bad.

I'm now in Brussels, and have worked for an international hospitality company for 11 years until I got a new boss and we just didn't hit it off. At that level, you have to be hand in glove (boss and assistant), and we just didn't 'click'. I was asked to leave in November 2018, spent 9 months at home destressing, and then got offered a Project Assistant position with a small environmental non-profit. I took a 25% hit to my income, but the job is stressfree, has 3 lovely colleagues, and is a 30-minute bikeride away. There is not much to womble at the job, though! The job at the hospitality headquarters was exceptionally good for wombling :) (but what does that say about the job, that I loved it for all I could womble there?)

A quiet weekend on the Coinstar - 21 US cents and 6 Euro cents.

There's a good chance of leftovers at work today - but whether that means a free cake today and/or free sandwiches tomorrow remains to be seen.
I need to think of something new here...
