Hi @BlytheDoll
I hope you are well? Yes I am really focused at the moment. Already looking forward to next payday on the 20th just so I can fill my pots and see how much of next months bills I can pay with this month pay0 -

it is getting pretty obsessive! My aim is to get to 30 days and finally break the paycheck to paycheck cycle. I love how much more control I have of my money though, knowing exactly where every single penny has gone!
I will keep chipping away though. Well done to you for getting to 7 days. Let's gun down that 30 day target

Afternoon all,
Same old here. Work busy, Uni busy, life busy. But still as focused as ever. Can’t wait for payday next week so that I can update my budget for the next month. Been using YNAB for 2 weeks now, feels like months! I really love ‘rolling with the punches’ and moving money around to/from different categories to make it balance. Before, I would never think of cutting back on one categories to fund another one. If something cropped up, I would just carry on as if nothing had happened and 9/10 that unexpected expense would be covered by some sort of credit...or debt as it should be called! My age of money is up to 12 days at this moment in time which I am really proud of. I am still aiming for my EF goal, so all my surplus income is going to that at the moment, but as soon as that has been reached then I will be doing all I can do pay bills in the future months with that months salary. I love it!I have signed up to a couple of the 20 minute workshops which have been a real help with the nitty gritty parts of the software that isn’t really explained in the tutorials. All my creditors have gone quiet on me, wonder what impact this virus is going to have on everyone’s finances. I am very lucky that it won’t affect my work anytime soon but I suppose nobody knows what is going to happen. Feel so sorry for the people who are going/being effected by it.1 -
It's only been 4 days since my last post but wow how things have changed in the world! For me personally it is business as usual. I am in the engineering world and we have got lots of work to crack on with, so until we are told to stop, we keep ploughing on! I think it is going to have a big effect on us as a business in a few months because most of our work is for the car industry and lots of car companies are closing down their factories here in the UK and over Europe. The machine I am designing at the moment is for Nissan and they have shut their plant in Sunderland.
Financially everything is as normal as can be. Payday tomorrow and can't wait to fill all my pot's on YNAB. I am up to 14 days with the age of money feature. I watched a great YNAB youtube video last night on how to split your budget into 'Wants & Needs'. So if/when we do go into lockdown, I know exactly how much I NEED from my budget to pay the priority bills every month.
A couple of weeks ago I was thinking of using my EF to pay off my car finance which has 12 months left on it. It would save me £300 over the year in interest, but with things the way they are at the moment I do not think it would be wise to empty my EF.
Hope you all stay safe.
Frank.

It's finally payday! First thing I did this morning was log into YNAB. Filled all my pots and have managed to budget £434 towards next months priority bills using this months salary, which is about 50% of my monthly bills. Age of money has shot up to 17 days too which is great. Means that I am keeping hold of my money for longer before spending it which is something that never used to happen. It was as if I had to spend it. Another £300 added to the EF too so I have finally broken the 30% of goal amount. Next goal is 35%. Baby steps!
I was in two minds whether to post this because it feels quite selfish talking about money positively when there is so much doom & gloom out there at the moment with people losing jobs etc but it is my diary and the whole reason I started it was to log down my journey, the good & the bad.
I had a absolute nightmare last night! Last weekend I sold 2 items on Facebook. one was for £80 and one for £190. Posted them both the same time. Had a message from one of the buyers last night that I had sent him the wrong item!!! My heart sunk! Luckily they are both genuine blokes and they agreed to send the items to each other if I covered the cost of postage. So I have set up a Whatsapp group and it is all sorted...just need them to both send the parcels today. Fingers crossed!
Weather is looking fine for the weekend so will be doing some outdoor exercise as I am staying away from the gym for the time being.

Whoops on the parcel mix up!
Well done on ynab. My budgeting is still OK, except pretty much anything left after priority bills is being shoved into our ef which I cashed in last month to pay off the sofa finance before going for a mortgage appointment. Talk about bad timing! But although my two jobs are woobly hubby's is secure so should be OK.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉1 -
