Must be good for you to be seeing some progress (if that's the right word??? )
From the experience I had dealing with all my creditors I would say contact them directly rather than letting it go further, none of mine have been bad or demanding and always happy to accept when I have been able to make extra payments.
I guess it depends on how much time you want to give yourself to save before starting to issue any payments at all?
Good morning 😊 thanks for the comment.

Did your creditor keep hold of your debt once you started paying, or did they sell it on? I am happy with my EF pot so far so I was going to start making affordable payments right away whilst still putting some money into EF each month while I wait for my other creditors to take the same action.

All of mine have kept hold of the debt and I just started payment them as soon as I made the arrangements, hope that helps

  • Morning,

Well if there is something to come out of this whole situation, it is that I have confirmed to myself that I have not got the discipline to work from home. I am finding it so difficult. I open up my project, waste a few minutes flicking though things and then get distracted and end up on sites like MSE  :disappointed:

I keep logging onto YNAB throughout the day but obviously nothing has changed because I have not been out to spend any money! Which is a good thing I suppose because my 'Age of money' is going to be through the roof once all this blows over.

That is good to hear. I will get in touch with them soon after I get my default then. I'm going to then set up a new spreadsheet and watch that balance plummet! :)

    Thank you for your help.

If you can arrange it directly with them then I would suggest doing that but make sure you don't overstretch yourself by doing so. Often when your debt gets sold on you end up with admin fees etc so end up paying off more then if you just do it with the original source of debt.

    Hi Sarah,

Thanks for your message and I hope you and the flat mate are both safe & well?
I will definitely be getting in touch with them as soon as I get the default. Certainly won't be stretching myself, especially in these uncertain times.

  • Hi All,

Haven’t posted for a few days because let’s face it, nothing is really happening! Didn’t feel like we actually had a weekend because it was all merged. Today was a better day as far as working from home goes. Got lots done which is good, maybe a bit of a easier day tomorrow 😉 no! Must keep finger on the pulse.

Went  out to do our food shop today in ASDA, very calm, well stocked, no stress. We have got enough in to last us a good 10 days at least. Made a lovely beef casserole in the slow cooker today which we had tonight for tea with a giant homemade Yorkshire pud! For some reason though it didn’t rise very well but hey ho all tastes the same. How Aunt Bessie nailed them every time I’ll never know ha!

Not much to report on the finances front because I haven’t been out to spend anything. YNAB is not very exciting at the moment. But I isn’t meant to be 😊 Refusing to buy anything online either because 1) I don’t need anything & 2) I’ve got massive admiration for the delivery drivers carrying on their day to day tasks and don’t want them to have to do an extra drop to me when it is not essential.

Trying to get out and do my daily exercise but I am struggling. I miss the gym so much and can’t get into a routine of working out at home. Need to start downloading some podcasts and getting out for a run!

    Hope you are all well.

    Frank

We are thanks, I'm working from home but she sadly got made redundant so is finding it difficult to fill her days. I'm almost glad to have to work.

  • Hello everyone,
Well last week I really struggled with working from home, this week... Jeez I have not stopped! I have been at my desk by 8am (ish) every morning and it has been full steam ahead until 4:30pm. I've been busier this week than a normal week in work.

Missing my office chair though! The chair we have in the study in quite uncomfortable after a few hours and I can feel the muscles in my upper back being strained.

Really struggling with motivation to exercise too! I don't think it has helped that I have been so busy during the day that when it comes to 5pm I just need to relax and unwind! I can feel myself putting on weight which is not good!

I have got so much uni work to crack on with but after staring at a screen for 8 hours a day I am struggling to get that ball rolling. I am having weekly Teams meetings with my group but most of them have been furloughed so they have lots of time on their hands and are chomping at the bit to start our assessments. I am feeling a tad overwhelmed with it all.

I had already booked Easter week off from work and now the whole place will be shut anyway so I will use that time to crack on with uni. We do not know what is going to happen after Easter week with regards to our work being open or closed. It all depends what the situation is with the lock down.
Thankfully if I am furloughed, it will not cause me any great issues thanks to the mental shift I have had with my finances over the first quarter of the year. Thank god for YNAB!

Hope you are all coping OK.

Maybe set yourself a reminder every hour to get up and move about from your seat. I've found it's helped with my back and shoulders. I don't think we will be furloughed as they seem to think working from home is going ok, but it's killing my back.

im loving YNAB it's really helped me think about planning for future purchases and think about whether I can really afford things.
