Well Wiggle’s birthday is over now so it’s full steam ahead to Christmas! We had a quiet day on his actual birthday but then took him to Legoland the next day and met with our friends and their daughter who is his best friend. The children had fun but the place was appalling, they had arrow markers on the floor for people to follow and two metre markers in the queues but no-one was taking any notice of them, it was a complete free for all with people everywhere. There was no staff enforcing any rules anywhere and virtually no one apart from the staff was wearing a mask. We knew it was a bit of a risk but we didn’t expect that, it was like any normal day at a theme park and there were supposedly reduced numbers but I’m not sure I believe that. We’ve now made the decision not to see anyone for a couple of weeks as I would feel guilty after being in that close proximity with so many people. The one positive is I did pick up a stocking filler for Wiggle, it’s a bauble with bits of lego in it to make a Father Christmas figure.
We did have a lovely time seeing my parents before that though and I do so love being back home in the Cotswolds.
rachsecret happy belated birthday! Yes I was glad I got to see my parents as I too worry about local lockdowns. DH and I have also been talking about the possibility that we may not spend Christmas with extended family this year which is something we love to do.
freespirit glad to hear you are doing better, but sorry the wound wasn’t completely healed. It’s horrible when you can’t wash your hair, just keep looking forward to the day when you can and you’ll feel like a new woman!
Treasurequeen oh I do dream of having a mantelpiece one day, if only to decorate it for Christmas!
mandco oh you definitely should do a Grinch themed evening, there’s some great ideas on Pinterest. Oh gosh 4-6 weeks for delivery of school uniform?? I better get ordering Wiggle’s!
Hello and welcome rainbow, please do come and join in! Wow Christmas bits out in B&M already?! Would your parents appreciate a game? Or a DVD of a Christmas film? Pyjamas? Christmas blanket? Christmas mugs for hot chocolate?
Peppa the animated version of the Grinch is lovely, worlds away from Jim Carrey’s version and quite amusing in parts so you should definitely give it a try. I’m glad to hear you got to see your mum but sorry the home has gone into lockdown again, although for all the right reasons. I worry about the cases in Bedford and Luton too, even though we’re not that close to them I worry the whole area will be put into lockdown again.
vulpix glad to hear you are feeling better and glad you are enjoying the new job. I’m so sorry to hear of your losses, gosh what an upsetting time for you. Current restrictions do make things so hard. My great uncle died the week before last and whilst I haven’t been close to him as an adult I have very fond memories of him being at my grandparents when I was little and would definitely have attended his funeral. It is difficult being in limbo.

Thanks VULPIX, I’ve just ordered one, 🤞it works for him. We’ll all have to compare notes.
PRINCESSKITTY I think a lot of those places are probably like Legoland and I bet there aren’t many people who were there that are being as responsible as you either. I get really annoyed at people walking along the pavement in groups who just don’t think of moving to single file so you can pass them, so to maintain any form of social distance you have to either jump into someone’s front garden or walk in the road😡. I’m glad Wiggle had a lovely birthday anyway and that you got to see your parents. I think it’s probably going to be a very different sort of Christmas this year for so many people, not just the actual day but the build up too. Even going for a festive hot chocolate will take some planning this year. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :6 -
Hi all
Sorry haven't been in here for so long! It's been a very different year for everyone and although I have now started on Christmas buying, I am not feeling it this year. Worried we won't be able to get together with everyone we like to see . Whilst obviously I want everyone to be well and safe, I also want the best of both worlds and be able to see and hug everyone too. All we can do is take each day at a time and see how the land lies closer to the time
Hope everyone has stayed safe and well throughout all this.

Evening everyone,
VULPIX I’m so sorry to hear about your aunt, life sure does test us in these circumstances, Will you be able to go to her funeral or are they still on lockdown rules? Glad you are enjoying your job
PEPPA I use mine for headaches and migraines, I still use painkillers but I can feel the clip helping, I also use an ice pack#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE5 -

PK Legoland sounds dreadful, at least the boys had fun, Happy Birthday to Wiggle. Sorry to hear about your uncle
PEPPA oh one of my favourite things to do at Christmas time is sit in Costa, people watching, while I drink my festive coffee
STOKIEBECKS yes I am going to just assume we will all be together until we are told otherwise#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE5 -
Hi there everyone, I hope you haven’t all melted in the heat! I’m gasping for air, and nowhere in the house is cool enough to be comfortable, even with a fan blasting at me and dousing myself with cold water!
I’ve always been wary of AliExpress too, but heartened by GTQ’s success with them upthread, and being unable to sleep for the unbearable heat last night, I found myself shopping with them at about three o’clock this morning. I figured there would be enough time to source alternatives if they let me down. They seem very good at acknowledging the orders and giving tracking numbers, so fingers crossed - I’ve bought some lovely things (advent calendar and stocking fillers for the family, and presents for my daughter’s year 2 class for Christmas ... she’s the teacher, not a pupil) and they are remarkably inexpensive. Thanks for the reminder about them!6 -
The first thing I have to say is – ROLL ON AUTUMN!! I do enjoy the summer and being able to get out and about more but this heat is a bit too much. I’m a real jumper and fluffy socks person, I find them very comforting and am missing them! We’re having some quiet time and I must say I’m tempted to put a Christmas film on!
Peppa I really think most people have given up with proper social distancing to be honest.
Stokie good to see you back! Things do feel a bit different this year, I think we’re all going to be planning for different scenarios and will have to wait and see what happens.

I can not wait for autumn, love these summer days and time outside but the feeling of autumn is amazing. The build up to Christmas and that time of year if the best .
Just have my fingers crossed and trying to stay positive that we will be able to see family as normal over Christmas6 -
Might sound a little crazy considering we're in the middle of a heat wave but I've just ordered some hot water bottles.
I really wanted one of the neck ones last year but they were never in stock locally or available for delivery to my address

Princesskitty sorry to hear legoland was such a let down and you didn't feel comfortable glad wiggle enjoyed it though
Vulpix sorry to hear about your Aunt
Hope everyone is keeping safe in this heat
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk4
