Hello, I hope everyone is well? My mind is absolutely filled to the brim with DH’s 40th birthday which is in a couple of weeks. Before the coronavirus hit I had arranged a big get-together with friends and family and a night away for me and DH (something we haven’t done since having children so it was a real treat), however when we went into lockdown I thought there wasn’t much we could do so haven’t planned anything. Then his friend turned 40 a couple of days ago and his wife organised a virtual escape room challenge and hired a hot tub – now my mind is in overdrive about what I can do as I didn’t know these things existed! I’ve asked his family and friends to make birthday video messages and I’m using a website to collate them into a video, I contacted several successful golfers as DH loves golf and one of them came back to me yesterday to say he’d send something signed so fingers crossed that actually happens. I’m also looking into virtual magic shows as DH really enjoys magic and it’s something we can do on Zoom with his friends. I’m just hoping I can find some availability as I haven’t got much time. I want to make the effort as DH never normally cares about celebrating birthdays, but I know he is really disappointed about having to cancel all of our plans this year as he was really looking forward to them. He was absolutely over the moon to get tickets for Lord’s to watch England v Australia as he had to enter into a ballot, it’s in July so I’m sure it’s not going to go ahead and he says it’s something that probably won’t get rescheduled either. So I want to make his birthday as memorable as I can whilst we’re stuck in lockdown!
I’ve been feeling really Christmassy this last week, I don’t know whether it was a change in the weather maybe. I watched Christmas with the Kranks whilst doing some sewing the other day and really enjoyed it!
Opee oh I do hope you are all ok and have it mildly, fingers crossed. My BiL thinks he’s got it and it sounds like he does.
Treasurequeen I’m so sorry to hear about your aunt, it really is terrible what’s going on with this virus at the moment.

I can’t see the Pinterest board anymore either, I know I could a while ago. I’d love to see it resurrected in a new form if you get time PK. Your plans for DH sound lovely. Maybe you could reschedule the night away for your next anniversary instead? It would give you both something else to look forward to. Good luck, I hope it all comes together and he has a lovely time.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :3 -
Hi everyone,
First time (shamefully) posting this year. I always read and follow, happy in your ups and sorrowful in your downs but time just seems to fly without me typing any responses or updates!
For a quick update on me I'm a mum of two girls one 13 with ASD & one 7 with just has attitude! And I love Christmas, I find nothing more pleasurable than a beautiful Christmas tree and well, nothing beats Christmas dinner does it?!
And to the present, CV-19 what a bizarre situation we're all in! I work in a special needs school, whilst we're still open I'm only working one day a week and then I'm at home with my girls. It's a challenge that's for sure. As I anticipated, they lost interest in doing school work after the Easter Hols so we're just trying to get by without getting bored (& without letting either of them sit on their butts playing Roblox on their computers all day, every day!).
I loved what PrincessKitty said the other, I was going to say day but I think it could have been weeks ago now which was Christmas feels like a safe space to retreat to. Which really resonated with me. I love making Christmas special - whilst trying to lower expectations with Nia's ASD. I love hearing about people's traditions, what you eat, what you wear etc etc. I love planning, we do the elf, which will be the 12th year this year so always need new ideas!
Princess Kitty did you decide what to do for your husband's 40th? It was my husbands birthday last week (not a big one) but me and the girls did him a scavenger hunt with clues to find presents which was fun!
I've run out of things to say now so hopefully I will post again before this year is out!Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:6 -
Hi Noodles86 it’s good to hear from you. I’ve not bought anything gift wise for a while, I found my Christmas novels I bought last year so I have a fair few (9) to read this year.
I cant find the old Pinterest board either, It was on there at end of last year.£2 savers club 2025 #2= £485 -
Feeling very bored yesterday so wrapped the gifts I have so far ! I have 16 items for Dds advent lucky dip ,so not doing too bad there . Other than their bulk hamper which I will get nearer the time my parents are finished and wrapped . I’m way mor organised than I thought I was however there’s a couple of items I know I’ve bought but they are in my safe space ! Anyone know where that it lol ?
Still furloughed here and no sign of that changing , not sure how I feel about it but it has made me think I would like to change jobs so at least I have the time to work on a cv .
We have decided to change our Scotland holiday due this September Rather than leaving it to the last minute we are going the same week next year which coincidentally is hubby’s 60th birthday, At least this way I’m not stressing about what to do for it .
stay safe xxx

Well DH’s birthday plans are nearly in place now. Lots of friends and family have sent video clips for my montage so I’m going to edit and finalise that tonight. Another top golfer came back to me and sent a video message for him which is brilliant he’ll love it, I’ve also got one from a Luton Town footballer which is who he supports. I’ve booked a magician that was on ITV’s Next Top Magician and is in Penn & Teller’s Magic Circle for his birthday evening, it will be via a Zoom call with his family. He always loves the magicians that circulate at weddings etc so I really hope he’s going to enjoy it. We’re going to have a takeaway the night before, we haven’t had any takeaways since lockdown started so that’ll be a treat. He’s also playing twilight golf tonight with a neighbour (socially distancing of course which is quite easy on a golf course!) and next Saturday we have a race night Zoom call with his friends. He’d quite like to go for a walk in the local woods during the day so we’ll probably do that, I think we’re doing as much as we can do in the circumstances! I also have lots of banners, balloons and decorations to deck the house out with. It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago and it was a bit of a strange day not being able to go out and see anyone, I just hope we can make the best of this milestone birthday.
Talking of birthdays, I’ve just checked back on the front page and noticed we’ve missed some – happy belated birthday pixtotts, Opee and vulpix! Sorry if there’s more I missed. I hope you all had a lovely day under the circumstances.
Peppa i'm definitely going to do the night away when we can!
