Making do & minimising by using the leftover roast chicken for dinner tonight, also minimised some dead plant stems in the garden and finially finished DGD's baby shawl/blanket.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle10

Make do: 40 year old sofa and 2 chairs reupholstered, returned today. Fantastic!
Mend:I sorted the sitting room curtains ,polished the tracks and replaced some hooks. Now they look better and move better. Why did it take me so long to do them?
Minimise: several small tables, who needs 2 nests of tables in a sitting room.Well to be honest ,who needs one? It is family furniture and it seems disloyal to get rid of them, but the room look so much nicer now.14 -
I had a couple of make dos over the weekend as I am really working on reducing food waste. I had some more veg peelings which I turned into crisps again. A bit more successful this time round as they were a little overcooked last time. This may be my new way of having crisps now without plastic packaging. Another food related make do is I had some bread left that was a bit past its best so I was inspired to have a go at making some bread pudding. The first time I ever did it and it was really nice. Stale bread will no longer be going in the compost bin. A couple more make dos - instead of throwing out the stalk and leaves of the cauliflower when I made cauliflower cheese I chopped it all up and put it in with the sauce, I also made a veggie cottage pie and threw loads of old past its best veg in it before it went completely off to use it up. It was a success so another use up meal instead of just soup that I can add to my repertoire.A minimising success - I have been knitting up oddments of baby wool to make things for the local premature baby unit. I have so far made 3 blankets, 3 bonding squares 2 cannular gloves, 3 hats and 1 cardigan. Still have plenty of wool still to get through so I can add a lot more to that collection yet.The only mend I can think of is that my dressmaker's dummy had a vest top on it to keep all its padding in place when I made it my shape. I have now made a proper cover for it so I have reclaimed the vest top for my wardrobe.Reading back all that has made me realise that I have achieved more than I thought.

Crafty Lisa - do you have the patterns for these garments - I have a surplus of wool and would like to help.

I just did a search on the internet. Emily's Star has got a lot of different ones you can look at. The cannular gloves I got from Facebook. It's basically casting on 26 stitches, knitting 36 rows of garter stitch and sewing the two sides together to make a tube. I have stuck to using purely baby wool as it is designed for sensitive skin. I hope that helps.

Its the minimise bit I need to do........too much clutter, especially in the sitting room. I have a 6 shelf bookcase and its stuffed full of books, mostly belonging to my husband, and books on top of books as well. I have photographs in frames taken of my Grand daughters wedding 3 years ago, still waiting to be hung up, and two side tables which could both do with a clear out. I dare not even think about the hall, kitchen and bedrooms, although one of those is my sewing room which I downsized a couple of years ago, there is still too much in it though.
I need to 'gird my loins' and tackle the sitting room first.10 -
Hope this is ok for this thread. Can anyone suggest if or how I can repair a Le Creuset grillet pan. It’s one of those with a ridged bottom but the non stick is coming off so I’m reluctant to cook with it. Can you get them re-non stocked.8

Making do with what is in the house to eat and keeping to purchase budgets getting into a better flow.
Still need to turn up a pair of trousers that I did recently they need a bit more taking up. So no mending going on.
Minimising is a bit varied as trying to keep to item in, an item to go out. Working on getting the clutter drawer reduced a bit more. Giving hubby his "stuff" that needs to be in the garden shed(this ain't no ordinary shed, its massive). Also minimising spending money
Have been doing better getting rid of paperwork by shredding it and getting it out of the house. Got some books out of the loft and they are ready to leave the house. Donated 2 dog harnesses and a dog coat to a friend who is collecting for some appeal, just need to drop them off.
Anything is better than nothing-check back and see

Hello sewing types! I have a question - I want to learn to darn in order to 'make do', as many of my clothes have moth holes in them
What do I need? Is darning wool thread only for woollen jumpers, socks etc? What do you use for T-shirts? Thanks everyone!
