Now the advice has changed, it's a good idea to cancel the dentist. The bus would indeed be risky. Because of my cancer, although I'm not going through treatment at the moment, I have been advised to stay at home. Most of husband's team are working from home now, although he was sent home before the others because of me. It really isn't going to be much different for me, as I often go for months between going out, unless I go with husband shopping. We did go for a drive on Sunday, just meandering through country lanes, and ending up at the coast, which isn't far from home. We got a bit of fresh air, and a change of scenery. There were a lot of cars in the car park though, it was almost full. We stayed away from everyone.
Apparently the Stereophonics played in Cardiff at the weekend, so no doubt the virus was happily spreading among all those people.

To be honest AC - I wouldn't be relying on getting groceries delivered as many people are saying that there are no delivery slots available for the next 3 weeks or so.  So if you are going out try to get what you can (again some supermarkets are limiting number of items per person) although I know it  is difficult to carry too much in one go.  Just remember to wash your hands when you have been out and about - hope the boiler gets sorted to make that easier.
I did go to the dentist last week as I figured they already practice good cleanliness routines - fortunately just a check-up and no problems.  Most of my social clubs are now cancelled for the foreseeable but I have plenty to occupy myself at home. I am not particularly "at risk" being under 70 and fairly healthy (although not fit!), but both my kids are - 1 being a nurse, so in the front-line, and the other (and partner) having physical and mental issues.  We are keeping our distance at the moment but to be honest if either one of them became seriously ill I would want to be with them.  Stay safe!
  • Hello dreaming and Alfie 😼
you're right of course . I was a bit peeved this morning regarding online shopping . The Waitrose website was down , and the M&S website is appallingly bad as it doesn't list the stuff I normally buy in store. I decided to jump on the bus to Poole and go to the M&S there . There were only 2 packets of mince left ( apologies to vegetarians ) 🐄.
Other things were missing, but I got a few more bits than usual . I will go back there Friday morning . I will pop into my local Sainsbury's tomorrow morning . Then I will go to Waitrose between all that . Eventually , I ( hopefully ) should be able to get a fair bit of stuff for the fridge freezer. Mainly the freezer.
There was some annoying "person" coughing repeatedly on my bus ride home . I'll leave it there . However, one thing I've gone back to since I quit the prednisolone is berocca !
I always take one as soon as I can daily and swear by it. As I don't smoke , it is beneficial as smoking is bad for immune system as we know . The luminous urine doesn't distract me . Sorry 😹
I had a call from a friend who's an art director who works in the west end of London .
He is now working from home . I have the feeling he's getting a little restless already.
I think a few of my friends are surprised that I don't phone them so often , and realise that I have been actually doing things over the last few months . Having said that, I'm not sure how the gym and college courses are gonna work out . My next college course is supposed to be in April . The gym? I'm scheduled to go on Thursday but will have a chat with mr trainer and see how confident I am of keeping up the regular attendance.
We are living in unchartered territory . Having said that, although I've been up and down emotionally at times I am so glad that I have left London ..

We are indeed living through strange times.  We live in a small village and my sewing club has been cancelled. Also our local cinema chain has now closed for the foreseeable future.  I will be spending more time at home - as one of those who has to have a cuppa and "wad" every time I go out I will be saving money - every cloud etc.,

Sorry to hear Mrs p😿. Hopefully you'll be able to cope with the changes.
I had to send an email to the managing agents of my flat , advising them that I cannot lend the tenants from the other 2 flats my key to have access to read electric meters. Last week one of the neighbours had no power. I investigated and could see that her smart meter was at fault . She was ringing my bell for assistance a few times , but her hygiene is not the greatest 🤮😷 sorry for being honest . I didn't mention the hygiene issue . Anyway , the response was that the managing agents do have a key but are minimising visits . I asked them that maybe the tenants should contact the landlord for access. We'll see.
I had issues with Waitrose and Tesco websites again today . I left a comment on Waitrose Facebook page venting off , and will contact Tesco probably by phone tomorrow .
If we're being constantly told to go online , then at the very least they should do is remember the customers who signed up and have loyalty cards etc 😾

AC - if you're considered high risk then you shouldn't go to a gym. Too much risk of spreading - too many surfaces potentially with the virus. I'm in Spain and we're now in lockdown. The last time I went to the gym before lockdown I was very aware of the risks. Yes there are always bottles of cleaner around but people don't clean everything. It only takes one person.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Thanks Gally girl 😼. Nice to hear from you again .
Very good point there. I hope that you are on top of things in Spain , in your situation. You have my sympathy . Over here , we have normality / familiarity and where you are I'd  imagine mixed messages etc and a bit more anxiety.
I am thinking of speaking to mr trainer and see what gives . I am on a fairly high dose of azathioprine , which is an immune suppressant . It's annoying really in this situation , because it means I'm literally taking a step backwards if I do ( probably sensibly ) , stop seeing mr trainer for a while . This morning I received an email and text advising me that the course I was going on has officially been scrapped for the for seeable future .
So in the scheme of things from being told by many to get my finger out , and actually embracing everything , I now will be taking a step backwards until this blows over ..if it does.  The ironic way of thinking about my situation , is that I've kind of got a head start in living in isolation .
I'm hoping that the scheduled visit to get the boiler installation , still goes ahead . If so, 🙏in 8 days time , the days of mucky water , cold showers and low pressure will be gone .
I received an email from Waitrose ( as did many others) , regarding the shopping situation.
I didn't fancy phoning their customer service , so eventually sent an email, totally slagging off the website in which I feel justified doing so. No bad language obviously , but to the point. Speaking of shopping for food 🍴🧂🥣, I'm struggling for space in the freezer already. Well, it is a fridge / freezer so space is ltd .

  • Well, I must say that the lady at the mgt agents has been very good , although she had to be prodded initially . My only concern about my home situation, is that kids are the worst germ carriers imho. I say this as I'm an uncle a few times over, and a great one too . Modest also . So, I'm hoping that they won't be sent home just yet .
Mr trainer 🏋️advised me to rest this week, and he will divide a home workout . He said the same as me, that the biggest risk is on the bus 🚌.
Ironic really, that I used to walk to the old gym  and now have to get a bus to Bournemouth
still, I guess I've got to know more about the area  in the 3.5 years or so I've been here
